Administrative note

I’m heading down to Amelia Island today with a few law school buddies – a sort of summer practice for the Cocktail Party, if you will – so posting will be light until I get back late Sunday.

    I hope no one suffers any season injuries during summer practice. Going full contact or just shorts and helmets?

    Do you ever get up to Sapelo I. on visits? Don’t want to see it if it has been realty-plundered, but will always remember finding perfectly paired “angel wings” clam shells about 6″ in length strewn on the beach, night herons in a pond and whip-o-wills at night, sitting on a road next to the beach such that you could stand next to them and they wouldn’t take flight(They never knew a predator level or fear of anything).

    Gone forever.

      I think Sapelo is pretty much preserved by the state. Cumberland is a National Seashore and is unbeliveably beautiful and mostly pristine.

        It originally was to go to the state and is where UGA’s Marine Ecology studies are done. Long ago it could only be occupied by descendents of the RJ Reynolds family when they first were turning it over to the state. Hadn’t heard anything since and I thank you for the update. I assumed the worst and didn’t want to face that reality of commercialization of such an ecological wonder. Maybe my grandchildren will get a chance to visit and study.

        Saw it happen to Sanibel I off the West Gulf next to Ft Myers .I’m grateful to have seen it before it was raped.

          There are still a handful of private property owners in addition to a good number of indigenous Gullah people that live on the island. I was college buddies with a guy whose parents owned a house on the island. Got to spend a week down there and had a local Gullah fellow who showed us all of the cool spots. It was a great trip. I think of it often.

      Gone but not forgotten…as long as we have memories and pictures. There’s always plenty of good weed in coastal areas. Smoke em if you got em.

    Having just driven through Camden County I-95 hot zone, do not seek the treasure of speeding because it’s open season even more so than usual. Saw many fellow drivers (at least a half-dozen each way) getting submarined around Kingsland at night (June 20 and June 25). Hadn’t seen that many patrol cars lined up all pretty and straight since FHP stakeouts at south end of Florida Turnpike when everybody has built up a good head of steam hauling ass to the Keys.

    Notice that Vandy waited until The Senator departed before they mentioned the local investigation and dismissal. Bluto, if you see 4 guys with Vandy shirts playing aimlessly on the beach; interview them. No one else is releasing info.
