Paul Petrino bitching about Wazzou putting its defensive starters back in at the end of the game to try to preserve its first shutout in a decade is about the last thing I would have picked. I mean, crap, just score, you know?
Although it means we get treated to this classic moment of postgame comity:
Like brother like brother. Petrinos think you have to treat them fair but they can do anything that’s fair game. Remember Bobby letting loose a stream at Les Miles across the field, when Miles kicked a field goal in a game that was still in doubt.
Two big time babies.

That’s the first thing I thought of when seeing this clip also.

The expression on Leach’s face is classic.

Leach will meet Pauli again & it will be a lot worse.

Yep. The universities are only eight miles from each other.
Can only imagine what the next restaurant or bar encounter will be like.

Suppose Paulie, Mike and his talk like a parrot rode into a biker bar in a demilitarized zone (except for militias), say in, Montana. Would anyone care about that close encounter?

Sorry, I can’t fault Petrino here. How about letting the backups do their part in preserving the shutout in a 42-0 game? And exactly why is it so important to begin with? It’s pretty jerky, frankly.

Last time I checked it was the D’s responsibility to stop the other team’s O from scoring. Intentionally letting somebody score to “save face” is about on the level of giving a “participation award.”

P.S. I’ve looked at the Washington State schedule and I think Leach can get to a bowl this year.

Not what he says. Petrino shakes his hand and says, “At least we held you to 40 points” and Leach corrects him “forty-two!”.

Didn’t we do that last season against Auburn? Not that I mind since it is Dirty Auburn but there is no added value when all is said and done. Let the kids play. Now, I hope Petrino had already pulled his starters too, or he has absolutely no reason to bitch. When you put up your white flag, the other guys is obligated to honor that (See? I do speak French.)

Mac, you can bet Petrino had his starters in the game trying to score.

I don’t think we owe much to Auburn in the way of sportsmanship until Aaron Murray’s kidneys graduate, considering the festival of BS he endured down there in 2010. It’s really just Auburn’s bad luck that 1. they suck, 2. the 2012 game was a little chance for AM and our boys to show the Barners they remember the warm sportsmanship they were shown on their last visit to the Plains, 3. they played like a bunch of lay down artists who had quit on the Chiz in September.
Oh, and due to a quirk of SEC scheduling, we play down there again this year for Murray’s senior season. Suits me if we beat them like they stole something again this year.
