Bigger is better.

You will be shocked, shocked to learn, given the sizes of each postseason pool, that advanced stats suggest from 2005-2014, the BCS did a better job of matching the best teams in the championship game than the NFL did.

Big difference is; the NFL teams have to win games to get in the Super Bowl, college teams have to be “liked” the best by the polls or committee. I’d gladly trade the college system for a more NFL type playoff system.

Agreed…I for one think it just got harder to win a MNC. The SEC/Pac 10 rep is going to have to win games against 3 good teams…not easy.

  2. It the goal was to have stats determine your champion, why play the games at all?

Settling it on the field is superior precisely because it quite often defies the stats/metrics.

The college system better reflects the best team over the season, while the pro tournament identifies the best team at that time. To-ma-to or to-mah-to.

The BCS worked better than this committee system. The committee left the best team in the nation out of the playoff–TCU. Plus, it is really dangerous for the committee to know the identities of the teams while they are picking the top 4. The BCS used a computer system (flaky as it was) that was set up before the season and applied to teams in advance anonymously so there was no bias, regional or otherwise. I don’t understand why we even need the committee. Just use the old BCS computer system to pick the top 4 teams and seed the rest.
