    As I noted in a reply last week, I just got back from a fly fishing trip to Montana and Wyoming. Saw three UGA logos in the small towns of Nye and Fishtail Montana, not counting my own. The Dawgs ARE known all over the US!

    Awesome. My absolute favorite summertime location is the Flathead Valley area of Montana. On my last trip there 4-5 years ago, I entered a bar in Whitefish (Graggy Range) wearing a UGA visor, and within seconds a few people started barking at me. It turned out that one of the waitresses was a recent UGA grad, and the bartender’s relative was a former walk-on, so basically they had turned a fair percentage of the town into UGA fans based on their passion alone (that and constantly showing every UGA game on at least one or more of their tv’s.

    When my wife and I were vacationing in Ireland several years ago, we passed a group of coeds from University College Cork, one of whom was wearing a UGA cap. When I called out “Go Dawgs,” the young woman smiled, gave me a thumbs up, and offered a “woof woof woof.”

    I’ve seen that car driving around and have tried to capture it. Glad someone was able to! I have also seen a care with a standard Montana plate with UGA stickers. It is still in the wild.

    Not exactly the same, but I might as well relate it. I am a retired Army Officer and one of my last duties was to provide Logistics Support to the 60th Anniversary of the D Day Landings. So I have become pretty familiar with the Normandy area. As a retiree I take small groups to Europe and areas I spent 20 of my 30 years.

    Anyway, last September I took a group to Bruges, Belgium, Paris and Normandy. We stayed in a wonderful farm house near Bayeux. I divided the tours into 1 day in the British sector and one day in the American sector. We arrived in St Mere Eglise early in the morning and first went out to La Fiere Bridge and then drove back into town. I showed them the church where PFC Steele hung from the steeple and the we went into the Airborne Museum. I had been in multiple times so I was sitting outside when I see this guy coming toward me with a red hat. As he got closer I could tell it was a Georgia hat and I yelled Go Dawgs. He returned with Go Dawgs and got closer. I almost fell over. It was Vince Dooley. I asked him why he was there and he told me that he had always wanted to come and it fell between the Clemson and Carolina games on our week off. I told him that is the only reason I would come over in the Fall as well. We chatted for about 10 minutes but he had to go with his tour guide.

    The ladies in my group then gave me hell because I didn’t get a picture. Hell, I didn’t even think about it. I called Scott Howard the story two weeks later on the pre-game show on my way to Athens for the game with Troy. The Dawgs even have a following in La Grand Nation.

    I have a coworker whose daughter and son in law live in Montana. Both are UGA grads. I’ll ask him if they have personalized plates

    I lived in London for about a year. While jogging through Hyde Park one Saturday, I saw some college aged co-eds with Brogens t-shirts on as they toured through the Park and a few had Dawg hats on. As I jogged by them, I let out a Go Dawgs! and they replied in step with – Sic ’em, woof, woof, woof. It was good to hear a little bit of home in Her Majesty’s Park.
    Later that afternoon, I proceeded to pound several gallons/liters of mother’s milk from Ireland and cheer on the invincible Gunners to victory!

    It’s always exciting to see another Dawg fan up. It’s very fraternal the Dawg Nation runs that strong up north.
    My wife and I took a brewery tour around the state a few years back. In Stevensville (Blacksmith Brewery) we ran into a UGA grad who was the bartender. Small, small world.

    DawgNation is a virus..as common and transferable as the common cold. Go to Jackson Hole and and pay attention….many of the the young adults there are recent grads who are taking advantage of the fact that they are free and single.It is a massive infection that will only get worse when we win the big one. The Dawg virus is infectious ,incurable and coming to a town near you.
