The next time you think about bashing Jim Chaney as the most inept offensive coordinator in college football, pause to reflect on the game Illinois’ offense had yesterday.

The best part of it all was that Illinois never kicked off in the game.
Save those post election crying towels, play dough, and group hugs. Illinoise is gonna need them. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=7oWcBH2Q&id=DA27B94E24CD63375190E90EF4F408FF85A41FAF&q=playdough&simid=608033861296588002&selectedIndex=9
At least the Dawgs got to kick off…so he has that to cheer him up.
Tech could be a handful next week. Protect the Hedges Dawgs!

As bad as the screen shot looks, imagine actually being at the game, as I was yesterday. Visiting in-laws in Chicago, the last minute decision was made to head to Champaign for some Big Ten action. Cold, windy day with maybe 40,000 fans.
As bad as things have been at times in Athens, we should count our blessings that we’ve never endured this type of misery, apathy and ineptitude.

I think it was the Auburn game in 1997. Cold, windy, misty. Their qb was on fire. Can’t remember his name. Same school Cory Phillips hailed from. We lost. Miserable night. Came home and found a big red oak had fallen across the driveway. So parked car on the row and stepped where my neighbor sometimes walks his dog. Left my shoe on the porch. Showered went To bed. Not a good time.

Dameyune (sic?) Craig. Our D was like tissue paper that cold, cold night.

Can tell that day is in your Top 10. Hope there was some brown water available to help begin the healing process….always about the process.

That was Ben Leard of Hart Co. High School.

Ben Leard torched us in 1999. It was indeed Dameyune Craig that was unstoppable in that 1997 Auburn game.

Perhaps your both right. Now that i’ve looked deeper. Both miserable nights . One was rainy. Cory Phillips did attend and probably played behind Leard at same HS. Craig was a senior at Auburn in 97 and none too shabby. Recruited Shamus Jamis to FSU. Offered him seafood. Not $. And Craig is an outstanding coach at LSU today.
Let me also say Cory owns a few records at qb for Georgia. Was a stud against Kentucky vs the Pilsbury Throwboy. And supports CKS and UGA however he can…gutsy kid. Now good night. Big week …short week.

Illinois has the potential to be a giant. That place is like FU used to be pre-Spurrier only worse–major underachievers. We are talking about a state that has Chicago in it and is one of the most populated states in the US. If they ever wake up Michigan and tOSU better look out. What the Illini need is a top quality HC and Lovie Smith ain’t one. If they got an Urban Meyer or a Nick Saban type head coach……..

Agreed, Mayor. I remember when in my undergrad days in Champaign we thought Bob Blackman was the savior.

Those were the players I really knew. Bob was not a bad coach compared to Moeller. White did a great job and got the shaft because of Stoner.

White was a really good HC.

Riddle me this: Nerds had only 8 first downs in scoring 31 points on 321 total yards (UVA had 25 FDs and over 400 yards of offense.) Strange game.

We may have put up 35 points, but that was about as frustrating a victory as one can imagine. The Cajun’s turned the ball over 4 times. We should have put up 50+ points yesterday. Our self inflicted errors in the red zone MUST get fixed and enough with the trick plays. Just score for crying out loud!

I am telling you guys, without four turnovers and a ST touchdown, that game would have been a nail-biter in the 4th. Glad we got some film to teach the young’ns from, we need to see some improvement from the defensive backups. Of course, the Tide didn’t get their 5 star backups on the field against the Mocs, kept the #1s in all game, scoring late. I understand that defense is for real but the offense sputters sometimes…and I am used to sputtering offenses
Speaking of playing backups, or not. How do you feel about a coach keeping his starters in after you have shown him mercy and put your 2nd unit in? I get that he is under no rule to pull his starters, but at 35-7 in the 4th, why not let your back-ups get a chance to show what they can do on the playing field. That is more valuable than making the final score closer

Unlike us, ULL has already had several games where they played their backups.
