Let’s play two!

Apparently, almost every human being in the state of Maryland had better things to do yesterday than watch a spring practice game.

Remember, Jim Delany had to have this program to grow the Big Ten Network with more eyeballs.

  1. I wonder though if the announced 66,000 attendees in G-day game yesterday is much more than most of Maryland’s regular home games.

Yes. Marylanders simply don’t care about cfb. They are more concerned about things such as: yacht repairs, Audi accessories, Whole Foods stock, and lacrosse to pay much attention to Terps football. Oh, and the weather was miserable yesterday as well.

he didnt want the eyeballs, he wanted to subscribers, which is slightly different.

A whole of lot of rutgers and maryland’s appeal is that it increases the number of people forced to pay for big ten football. Who cares about the number that watch the games.

Exactly this. Cable unbundling will put an end to this, which will curtail the obscene amounts of money these programs are getting. It will be interesting to watch as it crater. A shame, too.

Maybe McGarity really is a visionary for clutching to that reserve fund!

Someone should be negotiating a graceful exit agreement between the conferences and the WWL to avoid the collateral damage of “cratering”. “Too big to fail” only works when you have the Treasury Department printing machines. There is shame on both sides of the windfall arrangement but the signs seem pretty obvious there is danger ahead. There is “irrational exuberance” aplenty to go around, both sides have acted as if the fountain of gold lava is never ending. Mixing the entertainment industry with educators in a pot stirred by lawyers….what could possibly go wrong?

        Warning! Warning! Danger Ahead.
