Musical palate cleanser, Skydog’n edition

If you don’t own Duane Allman — an anthology, you should, if only for this:

The instrumental break at the five-minute mark is just the set-up for what’s to come three minutes later.  Which is friggin’ otherworldly.  As far as I’m concerned, the last three minutes of that song could go on forever.

In other words, if you haven’t, go buy the album already.

This is great. I would also recommend Duane Allman and Eric Clapton Studio Jams. The best music ever recorded in my opinion. It was recorded in Miami a few nights after the two met.

Still my favorite guitarist of all time. Such a sad day when he died. Cant help but wonder “what if”.

Duane is also my favorite. He has never received the credit he should have for his immense talent. Thanks for sharing “Loan Me A Dime” with us.

I was lucky enough to see him with the Brothers twice. Once in NYC and a week later on Boston Common for FREE! There is even an recording of that show!

    • Try this on for size sometimes:

It’s the only live recording of Derek and the Dominos with Duane. It’s an audience recording, so the sonic quality isn’t that great, but, man, the music…

Bought I and II over forty years ago. Still play great.
No Money Down is a hoot , and Aretha’s cover of The Weight with Duane is one damn fine song.

Thanks for sharing this. I didn’t find out about this recording until about 10 years ago and remember downloading it then and playing it over and over on my iPod. Somehow it got lost when I upgraded or something. Anyway, what a great recording! Can’t say enough about Duane, and Boz is underrated as well. Cheers!

Awesome song. Boz Scaggs put out an album a year or two ago called “Memphis” that’s worth a listen.

Lol! I thought from the title there was some connection to Craig “Sky” Hertwig. G-d rest his soul. Dude saved my buddies and me from getting killed by some locals back in 1983! I’m
