Kiffin watch: fill ‘er up and check under the hood, loser.

Chris Low presents the quote of the year from Junior (h/t Bernie’s Dawg Blog):

According to Jeffrey and Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.

And with that, the Laner has crossed into legendary status.  “Pumping gas” is the new official metaphor at GTP.  I am in awe.

Hey, can a school sue for slander?  What if truth is a defense here?

I can’t resist typing this:  SEC Media Days are going to be a gas, gas, gas.

******************************************************************

UPDATE: Kiffin denies he said anything like this, which will no doubt come as a shock to the numerous Vol fans who’ve been defending the comment.

OUTSTANDING! Great line Lame. I’ll have to remember that one to tell the guys at work.

P.S. What kid in his right mind turns down the real USC over the wannabe USC. Just saying.

I don’t think a school can be slandered, a corporation cannot, at least not in GA. I do believe the truth is a defense to both slander and libel.

Caveman, my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I posed that question.

I think the best we could hope for is a lawsuit from all of the former Gamecock football players who aren’t currently pumping gas for a living. There must be at least three or four of them, right? ;)

  4. That’s a good question about turning down the real USC. I do know however, that St. Matthews is right in Chickumbia’s backyard.

Regardless, right about the first of September the kid is gonna wonder: “Now that I’m a gamecluck, who exactly is gonna pass to me?”

Do the kids being recruited today even know that people used to have a full-time job of pumping gas? To me it actually is a silly put down to use in this day and age.

I guess Lane figured that the act of embittering himself to potential recruits one high school at a time (Pahokee) was not as efficient as taking a swipe at an entire state.

  9. Pumping gas is a good job! 700 former gamecocks showed up for a recent opening.
