Unfortunately, if you’re one of the victims, you’ll be hearing about this from your friends for a very long time.
Especially when two of the perpetrators look like this.
My guess is that the three players involved would rather run stadium steps for a year than have their names publicized.

When a co-worker first told me about this story, my initial reaction was, “Three college guys? Fondled against their will? Right, I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Well, thanks to you, I’ve seen it . . . and now I believe it.

There’s a cheesy, made for TV movie coming out of this story. You can just feel it coming.
It’s a good thing for those kids that there’s no longer a Virginia Pep Band – they would have been merciless about this.

That’s right, Senator — I remember you mentioning in one of your posts a while back that you were an undergrad at UVA, right? My mom (Col 1971) and dad (Col 1972, Med 1976) both went there, and they’ve told me plenty of stories about the Pep Band’s shenanigans. One of which got them in trouble with the governor, if memory serves.
My guess is that the band would’ve done a skit with a “Dating Game” theme. It’s a shame they’re not around anymore.

Doug, I’m a ’77 grad of the College. Your mom must have been a pioneer there, in a sense, in that the College didn’t go coed until 1970.
You can find a history of the Pep Band here. The issue with the governor was pretty much the final nail in the coffin, at least in terms of being able to play at football games.
As the article indicates, Wahoo football was pretty abominable when I was there, so the band had plenty of opportunities to distract the fans from what was going on in the games.
Real briefly, three of my favorite moments from the band: (1) serenading NC State’s Tom Burleson, who had been caught trying to steal money from a pinball machine, with the Who’s “Pinball Wizard”; (2) a halftime tribute to NC State (“The Farmers” was a common nickname for State in C’ville) that featured the band forming a tractor that had a wheel fall off; and (3) forming a giant joint on the field which was then “lit” and “smoked” (that one drew some serious flak from the administration, as I recall).
FWIW, I’m going to skip the ’08 opener in Athens against Georgia Southern to head up to C’ville for Virginia’s opener, which should be huge, as it’s against Southern Cal.

I think Mom went to Mary Washington for the first two years and then transferred to UVA (she was in the nursing school at Virginia, so I may have her graduation date off by a year or two). She said one of her favorite Pep Band traditions was when they played the “Green Acres” theme song for Virginia Tech.
