To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him…

and Vince Dooley does.

… Dooley suggested Adams’ proposal is politically motivated to appeal to Georgia football fans miffed that UGA was not named one of the teams in this year’s national championship football game, in which LSU routed Ohio State on Monday night.

“I can’t help but think that the politician in him has orchestrated this,” said Dooley, who was in Los Angeles on Tuesday to speak at the American Football Coaches Association convention.

heh- don’t have to be a genious to figger that one out.

We’ll see how committed Adams is to the whole idea.

I think we’ll have the plus one in less than five years, which I’d actually be okay with.

If we get a plus one, those who want a true playoff will whine for an eight team playoff the first time they have any argument that no. 5 was unfairly left out of the plus one. I guess that would have been UGA this year? I didn’t whine that we were left out of the Champ. game, but I guess I would if we had the plus one and were No. 5.

The same will repeat itself until we have a round robin, quadruple elimination 4,258 team playoff, in which Ohio State loses to an SEC team in the final. At least one thing will still be the same.

I grew up a Dooley loyalist- for 45 years the man was a demigod. Then Dooley shamed himself and our University. Now I when I see him grubbing for money, signing books at the bookstore, I am disgusted. Vince- please heal thyself and thy reputation- be the honorable man I thought you were for so long. I would suggest he refrain from commenting about Adams.

As far as Adams goes, shame on you for stealing LSU’s thunder, and why haven’t you signed Richt’s big raise yet?

HLVDawg, were you writing pious notes when Vince was pushed under the bus by Adams after he got Leeburn blessings? You are a mole or really don’t know what was done to Vince.

If the plus one had been used this year does anyone believe that USC wouldn’t have been #2? No way do the voters allow an all SEC championship game. 8 teams is easily done with an 11 game season and would still allow for all the silly bowls around today.

Hill Dawg, I’m no mole but maybe I don’t know what was done to Vince. Let’s see, he made a deal then, didn’t want to live up to his end of the deal, then he asked us to forget the deal and choose between him and Adams. No he sniping at Adams. Thanks for the memories Vince. Go away.

To HVLDawg: Just how did Coach Dooley shame himself and our University. You are either drunk or totally stupid. Coach Dooley would never do anything to hurt our University. Yes, thanks for the memories and no he isn’t going away. Not to true Dawg fans anyway.

Proud UGA Mom. The mentor of my childhood stood for honor. For decades he was THE definition of poise. He made a deal with Adams, got his money and then reneged on the other part. That is not the actions of the honorable Dooley I cherished and admired for so many decades. Can you imagine Coach Richt acting that way? I guess that makes me drunk, stupid and not a true Dawg fan. Careful Mom- I think your intelligence is showing now.

“You are either drunk or totally stupid.” Wait a second. That insult sounds familiar. Prd UGA Mom, are you the same wonderful, gorgeous girl I met near the chapel bell at midnight in October 1981? I still love you. Call me.

NO NO trust me we have never met!!!!!! I still say you are wrong about Coach Dooley and that’s my final answer!!!! If he did what you said does that mean people should forget all the good he did for our University? I don’t think so. I think all of his good “doings” outweigh the one think only you seem to hold on to. GO DAWGS and thanks for the memories Coach Dooley.

Coach Dooley should not have sniped about Mr. Adam’s proposal. All Georgia fans — all college football fans — should appreciate the proposal and the stated reasons for it. Mr. Adams is finally taking positive steps. It’s long over due — particularly after he personally screwed up our basketball program and passed the blame on Coach Dooley.

Why should we appreciate what is nothing more than a power grab?

Adams should have lost his position over the Harricks and the academic fraud. A playoff proposal hardly makes up for his shortcomings as the head of the university.

I agree that Mr. Adams should have lost his position, but he’s still there. Anger and distrust of the man should not obscure the obvious. The bowl committees and to some extent ESPN have WAY too much control over the post season. Why didn’t Georgia play the Spoiled Children in the Rose Bowl? Why did other teams leap frog Georgia in the last standings? It’s not only about Georgia either, but about the game. Let the athletes play it out on the field. You are right that this proposal doesn’t make up for poor leadership, but pray that this is the turning point.

What you label as control they would no doubt see as getting what they pay for. And I don’t notice Adams refusing to take their money.

I don’t have a problem with a serious discussion on D-1 playoffs. I don’t think that’s President Adams’ primary objective, though, and as such, I object to what he’s up to.

Reactions to the proposal are telling. ESPN immediately proclaimed, “This won’t happen.” Adams is the incoming NCAA Chair. How can reporters be so flippant? ESPN talking heads are constantly begging for a playoff. What’s up? The Big Ten or So responded that they won’t play no way — just take our ball and go home. What are they afraid of, and, oh yeah, why don’t they have a conference championship?
