“Probably only 10 or 15 percent of schools sell alcohol in their stadiums,” Glick said.
I didn’t realize that beer was sold at any college regular season games.
Anyways, the President of UN-R is concerned about families having a good time in the stadium.
“This is not an issue of whether alcohol is good or bad, but an issue of how do we improve the climate in our stadium, because we don’t have a problem at our basketball games,” Glick said. “We do have problems at our football games, and we want those games to be something families can come and enjoy.”
Hmm. Maybe he should look into one of these babies.

Not an old timer myself, but old-timers have often told me of days when alcohol was sold in Sanford, so it’s not like we haven’t pulled it off before.
Selling beer in the stadium should actually encourage more security intended to keep the hard liquor from being smuggled in because liquor snuck in means that beer isn’t being bought.
It’s not beer that causes problems, it’s the half whisky half cokes that folks are drinking.

I’m with you Senator on not knowing that beer was sold at any college sporting event. Most people (myself included) need the 3 1/2 hours of the game to sober up for the drive home. I don’t need the temptation to have “just one more” in the stadium. Besides aren’t the lines for the bathrooms long enough. Anyway if it’s like most professional stadiums I’m not going to pay 6 or 7 bucks for a 16oz lukewarm bottle of beer or stale keg beer.

Supposedly you can sell beer at any CFB game that’s being held off-campus, which is why Legion Field started selling beer at UAB games last season. Which was highly fortuitous, since we went 2-10 last year . . . but after a few brewskis, we looked like at least 6-6.

I don’t know. I think that not selling beer at the games saves me a whole lot of money and keeps me even more drunk. I’m not going to not drink at the game, so instead of taking out a small loan to drink 4 or 5 or 13 of the probable $7 priced beers, I just sneak in a fifth of something cheap and pour it into a $4 coke……Boom, just as drunk or more at a fraction of the price. They start selling beer and I will lose a lot of incentive and not run around at 7 in the morning to the nearest liquor store to find a bottle that comfortably nestles in my crotch to sneak in.

Yes, beer was sold at the Orange Bowl and will probably be sold at Miami games at Dolphin Stadium. Like we needed Miami fans to get lubricated.

Minnesota sells beer at it’s home games and they are in the Big Ten.
