It’s the usual grab bag that comes from lazy thinking and no real world results to base an analysis on:
2010 preseason poll

- Post-Tebow Florida at number three jumps out a bit. So do three Big 12 teams in the top nine, particularly offensively challenged Nebraska at nine.
- Boise State-Virginia Tech game is definitely the first week heavyweight matchup.
- Why is FSU at number 20? I guess for the same reason Arkansas is at number 19. (And wouldn’t those two have made for an entertaining early season pairing.)
- I am shocked, shocked at the absence of Notre Dame. Charlie Weis, you really damaged the brand.
All in all, count it as an endorsement for the Mumme Poll’s insistence on withholding a vote until after Week Six is in the books.

UPDATE: For what it’s worth, USA Today provides thumbnail sketches for each of the top 25 teams here.
Just a heads up Bama-PSU is week 2, same as tOSU-Miami.
I really hate this pre-season poll stuff.

Flarda at #3 and Georgia at #21 have more or less the same issues, save for the fact that we’re breaking in more than one new starter on offense. They’re 18 spots higher why? Oh yeah… because Brantley’s been Touched By Tebow. Laughable.
In the meantime, seeing Boise State ranked at #5 is nothing… NOTHING… more than the consummation of the media-created storyline about them being a championship contender and the plight of the little guy in college football. GO. VIRGINIA. TECH. I hope they drill the ever-loving crap out of those punks just as badly as Georgia did in ’05. OKLAHOMA SUCKED, Y’ALL.

LOL, isn’t Urban supposed to be motivating his guys with all this disrespect they are getting this year with Tebow being gone?
How is he gonna sell that here?

Preseason polls stink, but they aren’t going anywhere.
TV has to have something to promote games with, right?
And #16 LSU vs. #18 UNC sells a lot better than LSU v. UNC.
Some poll will jump in to fill the vacuum if they are moved back, and that poll’s rankings would provide the framework for the later debuting poll anyway.
That’s not to say I’m not a huge fan of the Mumme Poll, I am. But the voters are anything but similar.

UF is over rated in this poll, imo. I like them more between 7 and 10.
Seems the coaches aren’t buying the no respect thing like the media is.

I like them better unranked and under our hobnailed boots.

If we signed up for the Mumme Poll last year, are we already good for this year? Or what’s the newest info on the mumme poll?

Achilles Heel
The secondary was torched by every quality QB they faced a year ago
… yeah, and those guys are all gone. And the new guys are being coached to a completely different philosophy (look for the ball).

So, Tebow’s leadership was soooooo legendary but UF will finish in the same position without him?

From the Nole fan in your midst, while FSU isn’t playing Arkansas (per your request), we are facing off against Oklahoma in the second game of the year. We’ll see if we belong pretty quickly.
Glad to see UGA well ahead of where Andrea had ya’ll ranked. I would still love to have an FSU-UGA bowl game come the end of the season.
