Apparently, we’re not the only folks who are looking at the recent carnage in the SEC East and wondering “why not?”.
Except up in Bluegrass Country, it’s the coaches and players doing the wondering.
How can you not love a header like this:

That headline had better be plastered ALL OVER our locker room. I don’t care that they’ve beaten us two of the last four years. Freshman Matt Stafford handed them a game four years ago, and then we beat their asses last year and came out in the second half thinking the game was won. It wasn’t. But not because they were some big team that Georgia should be afraid of.
They’re still Kentucky, and we’re the University of Georgia and they’re damn right they can’t look past us because they’re still an inferior football *program*, and I’m looking forward to riding into Commonwealth Stadium on a new white Bulldog and beating them into the ground until they acknowledge that they will *never* be in a position where they can “look past” the Georgia Bulldogs.

They can’t look past the Dawgs but they are looking to play the other Dogs the next saturday. I believe that they have a very good chance to win the East. They play the Dawgs, the other Dogs, UT, & Vandy. One loss by USCe & Ky. runs the table & who wins the East? They are good enough to do it.
The Dawgs will have to play their best game of the season, especially the DBs, because KY. is capable of playing with any SEC team now.

We were also worried that Vandy put up 52 on a directional Michigan school. Just like we shouldn’t get too excited about beating UT and Vandy, we also shouldn’t get scared that UK just beat a team without their best player (for a half) that just beat the #1 team in the nation. We should win but we usually have a hard time in Lexington especially at night.

tbone, the ‘Cats squeaked by a South Carolina team missing Lattimore for half a game. Before that, they’d lost to Auburn, Mississippi and Florida. The resume isn’t that impressive.
Not that that excludes them from being a contender in the East right now. 😉

Yeah, I mean, second half last year notwithstanding, it’s not like we’re about the play the Green Bay Packers. Kentucky’s good, they’re worthy of our respect, but Georgia’s favored because Georgia should be, and if UK wins, it’s going to be an upset.

I don’t think you’ll see the INT meltdown with Murray that we saw with Cox, and A.J. will be on the field, as well.
The big question for the second half is how well Grantham can keep Kentucky’s offense in check.

I think that’s exactly right. People only remember the result of last year’s game, they don’t remember how we got there. Georgia got a big lead in the first half last year with Joe Cox running the offense and without AJ Green (and also without the great Kris Durham). Then Joe melted down in the second half and welcomed Kentucky back into the ballgame. We also gave UK a head start on the second half by fumbling the opening kickoff deep in our own territory. So, I think you can make the argument that instead of talking big about that win, Kentucky should still be thanking Georgia for it.

“Kentucky should still be thanking Georgia for it”…no kidding! Never in my life seen a game more gift-wrapped than that second half. I thought I was in the twilight zone.

And don’t forget about Ealey/Cox’s inexplicable fumble on the 3 going in for a TD. If ever a game was gift wrapped, that was it. I agree that they are worthy of our respect and we should be a bit nervous going in, but we are favored on the road against the trendy team of the week. That should tell you right there what we want to know.

Precisely. No doubt, Kentucky was good enough to actually take what Georgia handed them. They’re clearly not a team that you can screw around and make a lot of mistakes and still expect to beat. But the Bulldogs no doubt remember that, and will play accordingly.

No one says it’s not possible tbone. Just saying 1 win for Kentucky isn’t reason for UK fans to get hotel reservations for the first weekend in December! But as Mr. Cobb pointed out, they probably wouldn’t go anyway!

Did anyone read the article? It says the Cats face Georgia, “which has three consecutive losses”. I thought the Dawgs had won their last two in convincing fashion.
