There they go again.

Getting my hopes up with offseason conditioning talk

Cornerback Brandon Boykin said the nutrition changes are already having an affect.

“Oh yeah big time. I’ve felt it myself. I just feel like I can go a lot longer,” Boykin said. “My endurance is a lot longer in the workouts, and I don’t feel tired. And a lot of that has to do with what you eat.”

Much as I try to not climb back on the bandwagon….I keep finding hope in all these offseason stories.

Hard offseasons are one thing. A legit change in nutrition is another. I don’t work out at anything near the level these guys do, but cut way back on fast-food and sodas last year and dropped 10 lbs. even when I wasn’t working out (and slept better/had more energy.)
Getting them in better shape may not make a huge difference on the field, but it’ll have to help the fourth quarter swoons.

While it may be a lot of talk, nothing about it can hurt. The cheesesteaks they were eating at Snelling weren’t doing anyone any good.

I can’t blame them, I lived off of Snelling cheeseteaks my freshman year. Food Services got that shit right.

Charlie Weiss says this whole thing is over rated- at least that what i think he was saying between bites of large Meat Lovers pizza with Cheese stuffed crust.

Cheesesteaks (chomp, chomp), cheeseburgers, milkshakes (slurp), french fries (hic) all that stuff is good for growing kids (belch).

  6. The thing about the nutrition program is that since it is not replacing another group like the S&C coach is that even if it is 5% effective it is an improvement over the past where there was no nutrition program. 5% might not sound like much but add 5% to the offense and that is an extra 20 yards a game, take away 5% from the yards the defense gave and that is about 16 yards a game. That is a 36 yard swing per game. Last year how many truly close games did we lose (Arkansas, UF, Colorado, UCF) and a couple other Miss State and Carolina that were tight until late in the game. That 5% might have made the difference.

Since nobody else is going to do it, I might as well.

I think the whole people watching what they eat and having to take pictures when they are off-campus, text it in, get approval before eating will make a huge difference in overall fitness.

Must resist temptation to buy into offseason meme … remember the wheel route and 5’6″ RBs running b/w the tackles

Everytime I think about that I go through an abbreviated version of the 7 Steps of Grief.

I don’t know but I think that 5 step pattern may be a shorter version of the 7 Habits of Highly Ambivalent People going through the 5 Stages of Grief.
