What have the Romans ever done for us?

For some reason, all the Richt-dumping I read of late brings this scene to mind:

That’s not to say the man hasn’t had his share of disappointments lately, but it’s not like there’s no reason he’s entering his eleventh year in Athens, either.

  1. No no no! I KNOW things about his lack of discipline, his lack of control over the team, his internal “attitude” and lack of the will to win, and all sorts of other things that I don’t really know.

Everyone knows that the team largely coached itself from 2002-2005 and again in 2007. The only setbacks Georgia suffered during those times were when Richt insisted on injecting himself into the equation, punting on 2nd down and drawing up plays that called for intentional interceptions.

  3. I keep reading it but I can’t buy into all the negative comments I read about Richt & Bobo. It just isn’t the what I see when I watch the Dawgs play.

Love the comments from those people who will give them “one more year”. Like they have the power to do so and they are in a benevolent mood. Much of this crud HAS to come from clever little posers who nurse us along for months as if they are truly interested fans and then begin to insert insideous negative remarks about a coach. Of course some follow Buck’s Sturm and Drang comments while he’s trying to become a coach.

I don’t think that it escapes many attentions that Richt won’t let an immature young man commit career suicide on his watch. He helps them forward and out to other schools and venues no matter how much they diss Richt’s program or our school or vice versa. This is where he reflects his Christiany and humanism is expressed for others. He lives his feelings of morality such that it reflects well on our University. It doesn’t deter his coaching ability whatsoever. He is both an excellent coach and person. A large number of iconic coaches from the past had similar dispositions.

Seems there’s a Monty Python cult in Dawg Nation!

My favorite movie was “The Life of Brian”.

Sorry, Senator. We didn’t intend to……you know….(scruffing toe in the sand with my head down).

We lost seven (7) f-ing games in 2010. I don’t understand the antagonism toward those of us who think we should do better. I thought UGA would challenge for a championship in 2010 – had 10 returnees on Offense! Sorry, I don’t genuflect at the alter of CMR’s past successes. if the guy can coach he sure as hell didn’t prove it in 2010.

6-7 is not good enough for you or me, but as many on this blog will quickly point out we are not the people that matter. We should be happy with past success and having a nice guy coaching the team.

No, we should just walk around miserable for 12 months every year and rant incessently about how lousy the coaches and players are. Great formula. Not only for building and maintaining a successful program (which we are BTW) but for maximizing our opportunity to enjoy our passion…….all in the name of calling ourselves “realists”. Unfortunately, misery loves company and there are lots of UGA fans in the boat with you.

No one is saying the record last year was good. But honestly, if you thought we were winning the division in the first year after switching to the 3-4 (and having personnel for the 4-3), then it’s not Richt’s judgment that is lacking.

What most of us are saying is that metrics such as “no national championships” are stupid standards to use when measuring Richt’s success.

    • Again, I love how you guys flip the point I make. Nobody’s asking you to genuflect, WCD, or to be happy with what’s gone on over the last two seasons.

By the way, if making a joke with a Monty Python video qualifies as antagonism in your eyes, perhaps you’re getting a wee bit too sensitive. There’s lots harsher stuff I’ve seen on other blogs and message boards – from both Richt defenders and detractors.
