Charlie Weis’ bitter tears are delicious.

Weis is seriously bummed out.  Not so much by the four-game losing streak, because some of that’s understandable.

“I thought the rest of that Alabama game (second half without QB John Brantley) was going to be a bit of a struggle,” Weis said. “And going into LSU I thought that would be a bit of a struggle, especially when young Jacoby (Brissett) was dialed up after he hadn’t had a snap, I thought that would have been a bit of a struggle. I thought that if we were going to win the game it would have to be a low scoring game and it didn’t play out that way…”

Nah, it’s because for the life of him, he can’t figure out how his decided schematic advantage could have flopped against… well, let’s use his words:

“… I’m probably most disappointed – I’m disappointed when you lose to anybody – but I’m most disappointed that in the last two weeks, we didn’t’ make enough plays on offense to win the last two games.

“I think that’s probably my biggest disappointment,” he added. “They were two games that you can’t say were mismatched opponents. That’s the thing I’m discouraged about the most.”

Keep in mind, he’s speaking about his offense against opponents’ defenses.  Now I’m not going to get into his point about Ted Roof and Auburn, but looking at Georgia, you tell me if there’s a mismatch.

Georgia Defense (SEC ranking)

  • Rushing defense, 3rd
  • Passing defense, 5th
  • Total defense, 4th
  • Interceptions, 3rd
  • Pass defense efficiency, 4th
  • Opponent 1st downs, 2nd
  • Sacks by, 1st
  • Opponent 3rd down conversions, 1st

Florida Offense (SEC ranking)

  • Rushing offense, 8th
  • Passing offense, 6th
  • Total offense, 8th
  • Interceptions thrown, T-5th
  • Passing efficiency, 8th
  • 1st downs, 9th
  • Sacks allowed, 6th
  • 3rd down conversions, 10th

There isn’t a single category listed there where Florida’s offense ranks higher in the conference than Georgia’s defense does in its statistical counterpart.  So, yeah, I’d say they’re mismatched.  It’s as good reason as any why Weis’ offense was held to 32 total yards and a single first down in the second half Saturday.

Rumors are swirling around Gainesville that Charlie Weis tested positive for an entire bag of Funyuns but got to coach the Georgia game anyway.

Which is surprising since you shouldn’t be able to finish a bag of Funyuns after gastric bypass. Little rascal must be liquidizing them and injecting straight into his bloodstream. Gotta work it to keep that perfectly egg-shaped physique post-op.

To be fair…….nah, can’t type anything here. No matter how great you think your offense is, it begins and ends along the lines. UF had a terrible display and our d-line looked like world beaters. That is what happened in that second half, to put it mildly.

He couldn’t figure out why he was losing at Notre Dame either so it’s not like this is new.

He can’t imagine that he isn’t the smartest guy on the field and that other people can figure out what he is doing and adjust. His ego is so big he is stunned when other coaches match wits with him. Grantham kicked his ass.

Isn’t that the very definition of a Yankee. Have yet to meet one that didn’t think they were intellectually superior simply due to the geographic origin of birth.

I can’t decide if I’d be happier if Florida realized they suck or if if it’s better for them to delude themselves. Didn’t Rainey say that he thought they were better than LSU after the game? Florida lost to a mediocre Georgia team that played horribly and the best they can muster is “disappointment”?

If they lose to vandy I might never stop laughing.

Could it be his decided schematic advantage only works with Tom Brady under center?

If you didn’t think that UGA practically dared Florida to win that game and, on several occasions even gave us the means to do it, then we were watching different games.

Your team beat mine, no sour grapes, no excuses and no moral victories. Your defense in particular played very well, especially with creating those two TOs in our territory. Those were forced TOs.

That said, if Rainey can catch not one but two perfectly thrown slant patterns over the middle, Florida puts 14 more points on the board. One in the first half and one in the second. I think those two missed scores might have been significant and might be one source of Charlie’s laments.

My biggest criticism of Charlie is this; why not, in the second half, run more option with Burton? Last year that is what won the game for us. It’s not like we had not had success with it this year either. That was the only type of play that worked against LSU.

So… If you count your missed opportunities on offense, do we get to count ours? Pretty sure we still win if so.

    • If we’re gonna do the coulda, wouldas here, Georgia had its fair share of missed opportunities on offense, too.

As for running the option with Burton, I’ll have to go back and check, but I think Georgia’s defense shut that down every time Florida ran it.

We ran it three times, by my count. But again, I have not rewatched the game. That is hardly giving it a chance

These young squirts have been pretty decent toward my outright brain farts on here so this is the place for us to be ,Mike. Understand your frustration, but that’s the way the old balls drop.

Goin’ to a costume party this weekend with nothin’ but Turds and Noles. No Dawgs. Was gonna go as Charlie, but I couldn’t keep the 3 pork chops in place under my chin. Tried duct tape to holdum in place and only succeeded losing more hair when taking it off. Looks like the barber ran the clippers crosswise from ear to ear. The fat pants didn’t work either. Shoved my equipment so far into my body cavity that it looked like I had a large clit when I pulled them off. A couple of pillows fixed the gut ok ,but the two water bottles for tits didn’t work. Used cotton in garbage bags, one for each ass cheek, but when I got past a bale (1/2 bale in each cheek), decided I couldn’t walk upright. Cured that by taping a cooler to the bags. Now the cooler is so large and with the bale of cotton, I can’t get them into my SUV. So, what the hell, I’m strapping on a Depends and going as Baby Charlie. Hope it’s warm at the party.

For the first time since I can remember I am wholly confident and even looking forward to our defense on the field in the Tech game. Man, how sweet it would be to shut that offense down cold.

Mike, every time they brought in one of the young QBs Georgia flat out blitzed the front seven. Unless Burton is passing out of that set up, he would not have been able to do anything. And FU won the game last year because Murray got no blocking in OT and threw a pick. The 2nd half of the game last year belonged to GA and if that INT was not thrown GA probably wins it. If they had, the last 8 games would have been 4-4.

You are right about those passes to (Time to Die, bitch) Rainey, although, the second half might have been different in what GA did Offensively. Of course if we are playing Ifs and Buts, how many open WRs did AM miss? Some that could have turned the game around big time. You have to admit in that 2nd half, you could not feel well about what your O was doing against the UGA D.

That said, if Murray hits one or two more sideline patterns where the receivers were lonesome, Georgia puts 14 more points on the board. If, if, if.

The if and buts thing has been adequately handled I think so I thought I’d just take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you as a Georgia fan for Florida stepping up and taking that Will Muschamp bullet for us. We had a lot of idiots in our fanbase who wanted us to hire him as head coach too, all because he was “fiery”. What the bulldog braniacs never observed was that your man’s defenses got completely taken apart at least two or three times a season. Hell even our own Mike Bobo (the worst offensive coordinator in the history of the world evah) had taken him to school several times in the past. It is just a total bonus for us that you hired such an incompetent hateable deushbag like Charlie Weis as your OC, it just completes the package so nice. Anyway, thanks again for stepping up, now if we can only get someone to step up and take the Kirby Smart bullet for us to we’ll be A okay. Lots a love.

We might have been watching different ballgames. If that game keeps going, we only beat you worse. You did not pull defeat from the jaws of victory, you did not “beat yourselves”, it was not a game to see which team could be lousier than the other. We beat you fair and square, in the trenches, in the air, on the ground, on offense and on defense. We were the better team – we had better coaches, better talent, and more desire. When you try to slant it any differently, you are simply trying to pacify yourself with fictions.

  13. Even IF both UGA and FU had perfect games last Saturday. It is a good bet that UGA WOULDA still win the game as Murray missed more open receivers than Brantley near the end zone.
