“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Why does it feel like we just asked a couple of slightly overweight, homely girls to our Sec party?

If we’re homely … then what’s Ole Miss? 🙂

I’m pretty sure he was talking about Mizzou and TAMU. Where does the Mizz get it’s zs from anyhow?

I think he is a Mizzou fan Scott. Welcome Bill!

Interested to see what our conference schedule looks like next year now. I wonder if we will play one of the new members instead of Bama next year?

I would assume they will put Mizzou in the East and have them play A&M every year to make it simple.

Has it been announced which division Mizzou will be in?

I don’t think so. it just seems to me it would cause less chaos on scheduling to put Mizzou in the East instead of say moving Auburn and breaking up some of their traditional rivals. Obviously if the Aubs did move East they would have Bama as their constant West opponent but then would lose playing LSU every year.

Plus Bama would lose playing UT every year.

The Arkansas AD tweeted earlier today that Mizzou will be in the East, at least initially.
Best guess is that if the SEC ends up expanding to 16 by adding 2 eastern teams, Mizzou will then be relegated to the West.

Great, now that east and west divisions don’t really make sense, lets rename our divisions “the justice league” and “league of extraordinary gentlemen”. Yup I like the sound of that.

The SEC Pork BBQ and the Beef BBQ divisions?

+1 – makes a much sense as anything else.

The only real BBQ is pork. It would have to be the “Pulled” and the “Sliced” Divisions.

True, but eliminate sliced please! Pulled, or chunked only. I love my beef, but not barbequed…ever. I welcome Mizzou and A&M, wish SEC fans would quit pouting, it isn’t going to change. I am OK with both but still not pleased with the Mizzou officals’ earlier comments. If you don’t want to come, don’t, we will survive. Apologize and everyone will treat you better. A&M had no issues, but they didn’t at badly at any stage of the process.

Correct. “Pulled and “Chopped”” Divisions. My mistake.

That would fit right in with “I AM” and “Mighty Mo”, Z. These schools with their athletic traditions and academic credentials are good additions. Maybe we can challenge them in football while they challenge us in basketball. Hope we get them both on our schedule next year in order that the training can commence.
Now, what was the name of the division that Nebraska belongs. Oh yeah, isn’t it The Legends? And Michigan? Wow, I get so mixed up trying to remember all the self-aggrandizing names that raise goosebumps on my skin.

Shouldn’t it be 2 1/3 Tigers?

I don’t like it. Feels like when someone marries into your family and you just know it’ll end in divorce but no one dare says it.
What I wonder is: are they after our recruits or our women-folk?

Uh…..I worked in Columbia, Mo(CoMo) for a month….trust me, they don’t need our women.

I am not sure of how much of this will play out, but there is one thing I ain’t putting on the table against ANY school, and that is our women. There are many great examples on womanhood on college campuses around the country, but this is one category UGA is undefeated in based on my travels, and that is fairly extensive.
I do look forward to new venues since we have stopped playing decent OOC schedules and traveling to new places. Shame CFB can’t figure this out, but Superconferences leading to a playoff will make that possible again. All we have to do is eliminate the political/BS beauty contest we have now.

Mac, not sure if you made it out there, but we lost to Ole Miss this season.

Depends on your preference, Puff. Ole Miss has always had the edge with classic beauty, Miss America types—-UGA is the queen of cute. I prefer cute to beautiful, not just to look at either….they are more fun. This isn’t to say Ole Miss and The Grove ain’t top drawer, just my own discriminating taste and preference in ladies.

You know, I think I’ve finally warmed on this whole conference expansion thing. If the financial considerations necessitate it (and they seem to), then I’m fine with adding TAMU and MU to the West and East, respectively. Doing so would 1) maintain traditional rivalries, 2) add football teams of comparable quality to each division, 3) allow for some new travel venues, 4) conflict little with UGA’s current essential geographical recruiting footprint (though, see Aron White and Logan Gray), and 5) add in schools that (from the reports I’m hearing) are “culturally similar” to the rest of the SEC. I’m usually slow to embrace change and didn’t consider anything about the current arrangement to be broken and in need of fixing, but I think I’ve finally come to peace with the change. Welcome, TAMU and MU!

The real question is what happens to the 4 non-conference games on the schedule. Will they be kept?
I would like to see us play everyone in your division and 2 from the other division (one permanent, one rotating).
This makes the move a net gain. Everyone picks up another respectable foe, while most years having one less juggernaut to play. Increases the odds of us always having top ranked teams.

I don’t like the 7 team divisions…it may not add appreciably to the struggle to get to the top on any given year, but good grief, it sure feels like it just got a lot harder.
I hope we add a couple more teams, just so you can win your 4-team division every once in a while. These teams are respectable, certainly, but don’t make automatic sense to me in the same way, say, a Clemson would. However, now that they’re here, we need to add two more.
