Honor our fallen troops… and don’t forget to pick up a six pack while you’re out.

Ah, America, you can commercialize anything.

I think I’ve read too much about conference realignment lately.

Anyway, to those who serve, much thanks.

Honor, duty, country. I salute all fellow vets on this day. May your lives be better for what you have done for all. After a prayer for those who gave all, pray for yourselves and give thanks that you are here with the ability to honor at gravesite. After honoring those who still suffer at Vet Hospitals, make this a day for yourselves as well. It’s what everyone who shared a uniform wants to happen; an enjoyment of this day in celebration of the sacrifice of many.

    Thank you , Senator.

I am on the way to visit my Stepfather. Army Air Corps vet and retired U.S. Air Force. These WWII guys are leaving us. He is 97 and in bad health. So if there is a veteran of the big one in your family give them a visit.

Why is Spike TV the only channel that gives a shit it’s Memorial Day? It’s got “Band of Brothers” on, while every other channel has schlocky crap, including the goddam History Channel.

AMC was a parade of war flicks. Although “Apocalypse Now!” usually isn’t the strain of film most Americans go for on the day to honor our fallen. I guess it depends on how you feel about Col. Kurtz’s tactics.

Thats a lot better ride than the ones we had in Iraq. Sure as hell beats the NA beer they had in Kuwait before the war. I salute the veterans of all the prior wars especially since there were more hardships shared on the field of battle.

Had a helluva surprise last week. Seems my sister-in-law, wife of my retired Army Officer brother, has been doing ancestry searches for a few years and traced back an ancestor on my mother’s side who applied for a Revolutionary War pension at the grand old age of 88. It was granted to the tune of $77.

I’ve just become aware that she has found a forebear who goes back to 1680 in a ship’s manifest when he went back to Germany to bring his bride. He was here before that and she is busy tracing back using any type of document used in those days.

Hell, I’ll bet there’s a good chance that the RW pensioner could have toked one with Washington or one later with Jefferson. Wouldn’t that be a hoot to have an early hemp grower in the family?!

“Smoke’em if you Got’em” could have been on a battle flag somewhere. Or an early state flag.

As you can tell, it has been a good Memorial Day so far. Thanks for the privilege, troops.
