Bobby Bowden haz a iPad.

Evidently you don’t need much more than that to be considered worthy of serving on a football playoff selection committee.

“No person is better equipped to handle the pressure that would go with being on that committee than an ex-coach,” former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum told ESPN.com. “We’ve seen a lot more pressure than being on a poll.”

That explains why they do such a bang up job with the Coaches Poll.

    One thing is for dead cert…if these “Legends” don’t have a say in the selection process, any or all of them will be quick to point out how bad the process is.

    Every selection possibility is fraught with the possibility of prejudice…even the computers have to be programmed by a human who has feelings.

    It is interesting the most vocal folks in this bunch are them what got dragged, kicking and screaming, from their offices…but they are not prejudiced, right?

    I would enjoy the day I see one of those senile alter cockers stick it to somebody who had their number. You think Fulmer would be objective about Lane Kiffin’s teams? Spurrier about Georgia?

    At least he’s honest about the fact that as a coach his main goal was to vote in a way that helped his team and his conference. There aren’t a lot of guys willing to go on record about that. He also correctly points out that active coaches simply don’t have the time to pay attention to everything that’s going on nationwide. Those statements ought to be enough to get people talking realistically about tossing the Coach’s poll. So maybe something good eventually comes from this. Something unintentional, but something good.
