This may be the smartest thing Paul Johnson’s ever said.

Reality bites.

“I don’t really worry about what Georgia’s doing,” said Johnson, who beat Georgia 45-42 in 2008 before losing three straight in a series that the Bulldogs have won 10 of the last 11. “I try to worry about what Georgia Tech’s doing.”

No doubt Mark Bradley is aghast.  Can’t the genius multitask anymore?

Many of his fans would be well served to have his same mind set. I’m sure you’ve all heard the joke:
What do UGA fans and Georgia Tech fans have in common?
    They’re both obsessed with UGA

If I were him, I’d be worried about what Georgia Tech was doing, too. Really worried.

While i hate losing to the nerds ever, the one thing i take pleasure in about 2008 is that it gave them something they had largely lost…hope. And i have taken great pleasure in seeing all their hope and optimism being crushed with our subsequent 3 wins. The tech people i know are as humble about the “rivalry” right now as they ever have been

2009 was awful if for no other reason than seeing (((45-42))) on the message boards all.the.time. That and the oh-so-clever, “There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Paul Johnson!!!” That may have been the turning point for me no longer reading the AJC. Just thinking about it makes me want to vomit.

I seem to remember Johnson painting “Beat Georgia” on all their sleds during spring practice in 2008. I distinctly remember a photo of it but I can’t find on the interwebs. Any else remember that?

It’s convenient to “not be worried” about what UGA does when you know you have little to chance of beating them.

Johnson is officially a Tech POS now where you deny that Georgia means anything to you (“Georgia’s Georgia dog,” Ball, R.), yet the only way you measure yourself, your success, and your entire life’s existence is on the barometer of how it stacks up against UGA. Try to go one day on the Hive or StinkTalk without a thread obessing over UGA. It’s impossible.

Tech’s gonna be better than most people think this year. Let’s just beat them and leave the bullsh!t alone.

Funny how his tune has changed now that his pudgy ass has been handed to him 3 times in a row. Maybe it’s occurred to him that he’s one decent tackle (or one less pick six) from being 0-4 against UGA. I figure that based on his recruiting, his bowl record, and the overall failure of GTU to amount to anything the last 4 years (thank you, NCAA!!!!), he’s one loss, at most, two losses, from getting the same bum rush out of town that Pepper Rodgers got.

If UGA actually gets it together this year and lays one of the Biblical ass whoopings on Tech that we hand them once or twice a decade, Tech people will be begging “DRad” to bring back Chan Gailey.

one or two more losses to UGA, that is.

and Chan would be a good rehire for Tech. Not because he can beat UGA, but he could at least rebuild the talent stockpile for the next guy coming in after Gailey, The Sequel.

Blutarsky’s right. That’s what Paul the Johnson should be thinking.

But Caleb King’s 75 yard TD run in 2009 was as beautiful as Buck Belue’s 4th down TD pass to Amp Arnold in 78.
