Of the leading contenders in the list (Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Florida St, Georgia), Florida St has by far the best path to the MNC. Both Alabama and Georgia would significantly improve their chances in Florida St’s schedule. Georgia would also be significantly better off in USC’s or Oklahoma’s schedule (or even Michigan St’s schedule). So, the argument that Georgia is ranked high because they have a relatively nice path this season is a bunch of bunk (even if they do have a pretty nice schedule compared to the rest of the SEC).
On the flip side, pity poor Ole Miss. In any event, playing an SEC schedule means something. Any SEC schedule.

And also overlooked is that should we be fortunate enough to run the table and win the SEC Championship, that means we did take out either Bama or LSU along the way as well. That would take away all the complaints about not playing either team.

If UGA did do that the Dawgs would likely face the other team not faced in the SECCG (Bama or LSU) in the BCSNCG. Any soft schedule talk would have to be erased by that.

This is the oldest trick in the book. I remember years ago a guy on ESPN saying our schedule was weak and they pointed at the Tech game as an example. Same season in talking about an ACC team mentioned Tech being a quality opponent and one of the toughest games on the schedule.
The other SEC teams can talk about us having an easier path than they have but it’s a giant leap for a non-SEC team to think they have it tougher than we.
