So much for defenses adapting.

Maybe yesterday was an anomaly, but, damn, that’s a lot of scoring.

    As I was perusing the box scores yesterday, I actually thought it might be a record. So many games in which both teams racked up a lot of points.

    Take away our dumb moves (pick 6, fumble, poor kickoff fielding, etc..) and TN doesn’t score as many on us. Also, they ran nearly 90 offensive plays. Damn, thats like 6 quarters of football.

    Got some work to do this week so we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot against USC.

      Without those TOs, Tennessee scores about 24 points. That said, it looked to me like UT left about 17 points on the field last night.

    In college football, today, defense seems to be more of scheme driven than fundamentals driven. Could it be that there is more of a pro influence such as with Grantham? We seem to be late lining up, out of position, and missing a lot of tackles. Maybe its just me…

      Same observation about being set before the play. And yesterday wasn’t the first game I have seen this in. Don’t know how much is late substitution and how much is CTG not getting the call in to JJ. Surely JJ has the ability to make decisions if Grantham is late. We are sometimes two positions away as the QB is beginning his snap count and still moving as the ball is snapped.

        Have to agree. In an earlier game Herrera was still in pre-snap position with hands on his knees after the QB had taken the snap and dropped back 3 steps. I’m disappointed we’re turning into a bend but don’t break D.

    2% of the teams (Baylor, WVU, UT, and Georgia) scored 7% of the points.

    Tackling has become staggeringly bad across college football. At this point, I’m using ESPN’s score alert break-ins to teach my son how NOT to take angles and/or tackle.

    No one seems immune to it. What gives?

      LOL.The refs are flagging horse collars and leading with the head on tackles today.This wipes out over 100 years of accepted procedure on defense,takes a min to adjust to these new rules of engagement.LOL
