Nor is it that LSU has already offered the kid.
It’s not even that he’s attended LSU’s last five youth camps.
Nah, it’s this comment from his dad: “I don’t think he feels any need to rush his decision.”
It’s times like this I really, really wish college football would adopt Andy Staples’ proposal.

This is nothing. I was in The Steg the night Erk Russell offered Bill Stanfield’s unborn child a scholarship to play football for UGA. A scholarship that was subsequently honored 18 years later.Unfortunately he was not as good a player as his old man.

I think they should blow up the entire recruiting process as well. It’s getting way out of hand. What about this: college staffs cannot contact a player at all unless a request is made by the prospect and parents. Then any future contact must be requested by the high school athlete. Of course colleges can refuse the request of any player.
So let’s say there’s a high school player that thinks he can get a scholarship somewhere playing football. He makes a list of places he wants to go and sends out requests for more information. Then he sends out requests to take visits. Then sends out a request to have a coach visit them in their home. Meanwhile coaches are looking at the kids film and deciding if they want to accept the requests or extend a scholarship offer which the kid can accept anytime. So basically the coaches can only respond and not initiate contact or even send out invitations. Coaches can communicate with high school coaches and make sure that the kids know about events, clinics and such, but the kid has to put in a request to attend any event.
I don’t know. I haven’t completely thought it through, but it’s dumb that coaches are fighting over a recruits. It’s not good for anybody.

Reminds me of my middle school football days . I was about 135 and was 13 yo in 8th grade. Some of the guys we played against had full beards. I think one of the Atlanta schools we played sacked our qb on every play.

Borderline pedophilia to me. If the NCAA had any ability to implement meaningful reugulations they could set a national standard with minimum grade levels for contact, say the beginning of the Junior year of HS, or Sophomore. Thus just begins an arms race well before the student is capable of making informed decisions. Let them learn to study, or obey authority first.

Regardless, he’s a big kid for his age unless he’s older than the other kids b/c he did “progress” through school like the others. Either way, his size and speed will be muted by the time he’s a junior/senior. Look at some of the kids in the video, they look like 4th graders – hell anyone his size could run like that. This won’t always be the case.
And yes I wish the worst on Alabama and Nick Saban. Hell with them.
