The zen of roster management

Boy, that Bret Bielema is a quick study.

Remember, grasshoppers soon to lose their scholarships, “transition is a process”.  Especially in the SEC West.

But….but….but wasn’t he trained in the very conference that gave us both Saban and Miles? Aren’t they superior? And weren’t they all sent to teach us poor, dumb southerners the way we should develop, and manage these young athletes? Perhaps we could become as clean as tosu and State Penn, and the other Big ? programs. I am sure it would have taken an SEC school over a decade to find those freebies available in Columbus and from Buckeye boosters. And even after watching Deliverance several times, it would still have been 12+ years to uncover and react to the shower scenes going on at State College. Them boys are quick I tell ya, and we should be thankful for them showing us how clean, and ethical, they are up Nawth.

Bret showing everyone his grade-A asshole stripes again. Who among us thinks it wasn’t like this at Badger U.? You don’t throw 84 on a conference rival by being buddy-buddy.

Damn it Bret, it’s “who” not “that”. Otherwise transition is an event, not a process

As he shows off his wife to Nick and James Franklin, it’s becoming more apparent that Bret is a mudder

Everyone see the recruiting story where a big time LB-Matthew Thomas signed with FSU and wants released to sign with UGA or USCw. FSU isn’t wanting to release him. Interesting to see how others report this and how FSU handles it.

For starters, Mark Richt will be blamed for not recruiting Georgia better but that’s a given

It’s interesting that he cited UGA’s need for linebackers. This coming season, we’re going to have 3 sophomores and a freshman at OLB; at ILB, we’ll have 2 juniors and 4 freshmen.

Given Thomas’s size, he looks more like an ILB. That would create somewhat of a logjam at the position. Still, he’s a 5-star. I’m sure we could find a spot for him.

UGA already had a great haul of LBs; if we added this guy, the program will be set at the position for years to come.

Looks like Mark Richt has lost control of FSU’s committments.

Eh, he’s a first-year coach. Players always get runnoft in the transition. Hard to say whether this is “roster management” in the Nick Saban sense or not. Still, it is douchetastic to call them out on social media for it, regardless of the point he’s trying to make to the rest of his team.

Fisheries is right. Remember when Richt gave Quincy Carter the gentle boot. But doing it on Twitter, and in dumb jock language, is just wrong.

I love that in his statement he used the term “mutually beneficial”. Right.
