He can offer the recruits. He just can’t keep the recruits.

Shorter random Georgia Tech supporter:  that Paul Johnson doesn’t actually sign recruits he offers is proof that he’s a great recruiter.

Ole Fish Fry can hook ’em but getting them in the boat and into the fry basket is a little tougher.

    • Yes, but at least they will get to play or sit on the bench. It is wonderful that some of these boys that aren’t good enough to play for GEORGIA will get a chance to play and receive a good education.

Does Georgia Tech provide a good education? Yes!
Do they have a disturbing recent trend of breaking NCAA rules and ending up on probation? Yes!

        • Are they on Probation? I did not know that. I am still pissed that that made it to the ACC Championship. They screwed me over on the Farris Pool last year almost every week. They are without a doubt the most inconsistent team in all of CF.

It looks like kids grab a Tech offer early just in case they don’t get a better offer.

that is some sweet analysis. he knows who the good players are, he just can’t convince them to come to school at tech.

So he’s a great recruiter because he bird dogs prospects for other schools. That will help when he starts his own recruiting service. I like how all the writer has done with that article is point out how undesirable their school is.

Such a fine example of the excellence of a Georgia Tech education.

I’m reminded of one of the great lines from “Seinfeld,” the episode with the rental car: “See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to hold the reservation. And that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.”

Paul Johnson knows how to take the recruits, he just doesn’t know how to hold the recruits. As a headhunter for other programs, though, he’s terrific.

I see you got an early tee off time on the Nerds today, Senator. I like it.

Lemme see if I’ve got this straight… The star system is worthless until it isn’t, like when it shows that the arbitrarily assigned two-star prospect that you didn’t get was actually an arbitrarily assigned five-star that you should’ve never been in on in the first place?

Doesn’t this just mean that he is good at scouting, but poor at recruiting?

This was the point I was going to make. A lot of coaches are good at scouting talent. It takes a great recruiter to sign them.

Cheez! Does this mean that two of our most recent starless recruits were first discovered by Paul?

Saw that a blog on Dawgbone seriously questioned a recruit that Richt and staff had evaluated over several months before giving and having the offer accepted. What idiots! Sounds like holdovers from the lynching mob of two years ago. A fan evaluating recruits on the basis of no stars and who pretends to know player selection and evaluation better than the Head Coach and our staff. Horseshit ! Wait until the HS season is over and watch how the recruiting services will follow in lock step evaluation of a guy they didn’t know existed. Just wait!!

  11. That blog is hilarious. That’s like saying Richt is a good recruiter because of Derek Henry and Laremy Tunsil. Not exactly examples we hold up as models of good recruiting.

Sounds like CPJ is setting himself up for an on-campus staff recruiting position whenever the axe finally falls!

This might be the strangest thing I’ve ever read on a college football website. It’s not even sour grapes, it’s the opposite of sour grapes! It’s boasting about how delicious the grapes were which were out of your reach simply because you were the first person to see them.

That is the funniest blog, and the logic was riveting. Taking into consideration he is a tech fan, it was’nt bad. Shame on Jumbo and Bobby.
