Why would anybody care about that?

Radi Nabulsi tweets that Ole Miss is recruiting the dickens out of offensive tackle Dyshon Sims.  Sims happens to be a Georgia target.  He also happens to be Josh Harvey-Clemons’ cousin.  Think they’ve talked much about JHC’s one-game suspension?  Think Ole Miss’ coaches will talk even more about it?

    Are we REALLY at the point where one game suspensions for smoking weed are used as negative recruiting against us?? Honestly, I hope he goes to Ole Miss if he has to even think about it. I’ve smoked the stuff I’m my past, and have no issue with it today, but I’ve also always accepted that there could be consequences. This is all ass backwards!

    Who’s Radi Nabulsi? Sims better make up his mind soon, our class is filling up fast. And I’ll bet we get another good batch of early enrollees.

      He’s a UGA beat writer. I’m sure you’ve seen his work in the past, you just might not have known it was his.

      Radi is one of the UGA Insiders along with Kipp Adams and David Ching on ESPN.com. He’s heavily involved in the Dawgnation page. Damn good source within the program.

    Given the issues surrounding JHC from the start (grandfather refusing to sign the NLI to the weed issue, I see no possible way of his cousin signing with the Dawgs. This is a lost cause.

      All indications are that he is currently favoring the Dawgs – we offered first before he got national attention from the Bamas and others. He indicated that he nearly committed to UGA during his visit to Athens this weekend, but held off until his mom has a chance to visit. And he is most interested in schools close to home, so the real threat appears to be Florida State, not Ole Miss.

      Obviously, when dealing with 17 year old kids, much can change. But the Dawgs will be in this one until the end, and they’ve got a great shot at him.

    I don’t think it’s too elitist to be glad that we aren’t recruiting by telling kids they can smoke weed.

      Agreed, but the SEC refuses to make punishments a level field within the SEC. It comes up and gets hooted down because other Coaches/ADs and Presidents within the SEC are enjoying the hypocritical advantage in recruiting.

      Of course we could tell the recruits that we are thinking of reinstating Josh for the first game .if the rules aren’t changed by game time.

      I doubt they tell them, “Come here and you can get stoned all day!” Well, maybe some Pac 12 schools, but….

      Seriously though, I can’t imagine Ole Miss is saying you can smoke here but not there. They are likely saying if you slip up or decide to relax in the offseason, we won’t be happy, but we won’t suspend you, and won’t have your name dragged through the mud in the papers exposing your pot problem for the world and NFL scouts to see.

      That is the main problem with our policy. It exposes each and every mistake to the light of day where kids can get a bit more protection elsewhere.

    If JHC has the kind of year we expect him too, then I seriously doubt the one game suspension would factor in to Dyshon’s decision.
