Agree. Never take your eye off the ball, or your primary goal: you have to get to Atlanta, and to get there, you have to beat SC. Hope we win the exhibition game at Clemson, but we HAVE to beat SC. Eye on the ball, one step at a time.

An SEC team can typically afford one slip up and still make the national championship game and the SEC Championship game…we will not know which team we CAN’T lose to until the end of the season. For example, in 2007, I would have thought that Kentucky or Arkansas would have been ‘must wins’ for LSU. What about Bama last year? A&M wasn’t a must win…but LSU was…but in 2013 everyone is assuming A&M is the must win game?
They are all important. There isn’t very much room for error. That’s why national championships are really hard. There isn’t any need to start making one game more important that the other when you don’t have to.

Yes, but I feel this is the year where we won’t get to Atlanta if we lose the one to SC. It essentially gives them a two game lead in conference play, and they look better than the competition they play. If they only slip once, we would be shut out. Fortunately, I think the one team on their schedule that is better than them is UGA and we have them at home. With Spurrier, Clowney, and their fans we have the motivation to take them out this year.

Just an FYI…we’re fans. We can and often do get ahead of ourselves as a right of practice.
As long as everyone seems to be on a freak out about the ‘mindset’ of the team, I’d be willing to bet the coaches and players aren’t working on flights to Pasadena instead of the game plan for Weeks 1 and 2. Just a hunch.

Chris Conley has become one of my favorite players on this team. The guy looks to me to bleed red and black. He’s going to be one of those guys that we’ll call a DGD for years to come regardless of what he does at the next level.

I was impressed with the young man before he really even got meaningful playing time. The way he handled the SECC fallout affirmed that impression, and I hope he has a fantastic year this year.

+1 – everyone said he was devastated in the locker room after the game. The way he came back in Orlando and had a huge game was good for him. Everyone forgets the huge catch he made on the final drive against UF in 2011 to seal the game on the back shoulder throw.

That is one of the biggest plays in the history of UGA-FL in my opinion, and I’m shocked it doesn’t get more notice. That catch was bigger than the Mitchell catch from last year in my opinion. That win that year changed the momentum of the series.

That is absolutely right. The fact that Murray and Bobo trusted Conley on that play speaks volumes. Not sure it was bigger than the Mitchell TD last year, but it was a clutch play that broke the Gators’ back.

He sounds like an old pro with a good set of pipes. I think he may have a few years in the League before he thinks about that.

He is one of my favorite players. He always shows up. I am sure they are taking it one game at a time but not forgetting their ultimate goal. Great video.

There needs to be some new ideas on how to make the Georgia crowd the loudest in the history of sound when the Gamegoobers come to Athens. Whatever it takes. Maybe there should be some contests sponsered by some frats or something on how to make noise. It gave SC a a huge advantage last year and UGA needs to trump it in a huge way. Georgia’s going to get their yearly blast at Clemson and it’s going to be a factor for a young team…luckily, noise is more effective against the offense than the defense, where most of Georgia’s innexperience is.

I don’t think there will any trouble getting the Georgia fans over the top for the SC game, especially if we win against Clemson. More importantly, I don’t think the team will need much motivation at all for that game. Not a lot of mouthy talking coming from the UGA staff or team but I feel quietly there will be a lot of rage unleashed on the Gamecocks that afternoon (man I wish ESPN hadn’t screwed us on that timeslot just to lead into their Michigan/ND game by denying us a night game.) Nearly all UGA players that will start were in Columbia that night and have not forgotten. And special thanks to Clowney for making his silly remarks about Murray, it will inspire everyone to step their game up for that day.

Let’s hope. There wasn’t much rage going into last year’s game, except from the fans (me), and they beat us two years in a row. We need to play with the same fire that we did at the end of last year from the start. Every game. I haven’t seen that since the early 80’s. We showed it in the early 2000’s except against Florida. I never understood that.

Despite the comments, I don’t believe they’re getting ahead of themselves. The goal is to get to Pasadena. The actions you take to achieve that goal are preparing for and winning every game in front of you. If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll never get there. When the pain of two-a-days sets in and someone is screaming that you need to do this to beat Clemson, it doesn’t have the same effect as screaming that they have to do that to get to Pasadena. Fortunately we have an aspiring I/O Psych Doc for a QB.
