Now, coach ’em up.

I’ll use this Patrick Garbin post to set up a signing day thread.  Have at it in the comments.

    Recruiting: Good.
    Coaching: Bad.

To use one of Mark Richt’s favorite quotes; “the hay is in the barn”

Now, let’s sit back and bitch about square bales over round…

    • I had a client that was in the horse business in Oconee Co. He uses the large 3x3x8 square bales. Weigh about 700 pounds. Stores easier, flakes well, and much less waste compared to round bales. I know this because I asked him to drop a bale of hay off for my tomatoes one year and he was kind enough to do so. Placing it at the head of my driveway. I didn’t know they came in that large size. Took me a hour to move it. I’m sure he had a good chuckle over that.

There’s this little thing called “strength of schedule” that needs to be taken into consideration, but is often convieniently ignored when doing the math.

+1, we often play at least 3-4 teams a year or more that are year in year out recruiting powerhouses whereas in most of the other conferences there are usually only 1-2 programs that are perennial top 15 or so.

    • It’s ignored when it is a watered down Bama schedule. It is always underlined when it is Georgia’s schedule.

I just went temporarily insane and perused the AJC comment sections, I forgot what a cesspool they are. Makes you despair of the future of humankind.

Great. Just what I need. Another statistic to tell us how much we suck.

That flapping towel confused our defensive backs as much as it confused the opposition.

So now when we’re burned on a big play, we’ll at least be in position?

If we get Andrew Williams (doubtful but possible) and Lorenzo Carter (very possible) that puts us at 22 signees. Didn’t think we had that many openings. With the last minute offers going out today you have to believe the staff knows exactly how many slots they have without us having to “Saban” anyone down the road.

    • On 790 they interviewed an Alabama beat writer and asked him about oversigning. He said that Saban kept his numbers secret and that nobody ever knew that actual available scholarships except for the Alabama coaching staff. And since no players have complained about being cut, there was nothing to see here. Move along.

Man, Saban has the entire state in his back pocket.

        This is a surprise?
Unfortunately he can’t control the clock in Auburn.

Actually, what got him in trouble was he could. Don’t fight for that second and Bama probably wins in overtime (and then probably loses to FSU.)

Either Alabama has no Freedom of Information Act applicable to its universities, or the local press is afraid to ask.

We already know the NCAA could find out any time it wants to, but chooses not to.

    • No luck on Williams. Amazingly the guy that ignored him while he was working for UGA, Garner, is one of the main reasons he chose Aubarn. I honestly think Garner leaving was simply on a lesser scale of addition by subtraction as Grantham leaving.

After looking here and then trying to find out about the signings of some other players from the state of Georgia … I was quickly reminded that most of the scouting sites actually want me to pay money to read about something that I can find out about for free tomorrow. I’ve never smoked crack … but it appears that there are a lot of ’em out there willing to shell out money they don’t need/have to get “privy” signing information before their next door neighbor does. Sorry for the off-topic rant.
