It’s pretty clear from this analysis that in 2015, Florida is going to sign its smallest recruiting class in years. Now the author is correct that it’s not an immediate problem, given the relatively low number of seniors the Gators lost (although there are also a few early departures that may prove significant). And I don’t doubt that McElwain will be shooting to sign a monster class in 2016 (although if you look at the chart in the linked article, it’s interesting to note that in the last decade UF never signed more than 25 kids in a single class).
Given a complete staff turnover, obvious talent shortcomings at key offensive positions and the lessened chance of the incoming class providing a massive injection of talent, it’s hard to see how Florida blows up big time and wins 10+ games this year. Expect to hear a lot of setting the foundation for better times talk coming… and probably some indirect criticism of Boom and the somewhat bare cupboard he left.

Yeah, the nest watch is on for baby gators now. The inroads to Fl players just became a paved interstate from every direction. While FSU is doing “OK” and the “U” is fast coming back to it’s former recruiting glory, FU’s recruiting ain’t gonna be what it used to be; however, never underestimate the FU alum affect on recruiting. Miami and select recruiting areas have opened more in the last five years to more out-of-state recruiting than I can ever remember, but Bull Gators are a coveting crowd who recruit better than FU Staff. They will bring it back after they warily determine that McE is to be rewarded with their loyalty before they go all preMuschamp on ’em.

Not sure about the rest of you, but when SOS left the the ‘skins and UF hired Zook, I smiled from ear to ear (even though Zook ended up going 2-1 against CMR). When Zook was fired and Meyer came in, I got really nervous. When Meyer left and Muschamp was hired, I was borderline ecstatic.
Finally, when mcElwain was hired just recently, my gut told me to smile once more. And after watching his opening press conference at UF, my initial gut feelings were solidified quite a bit. IMO, he just doesn’t have the “it” factor, and I think the coming few years at UF won’t be much, if any better than the previous few under Boom.
