This is why we can’t have nice things.

Damn it.

Georgia senior receiver Justin Scott-Wesley had to leave Monday’s practice after hurting his right knee. The severity of the injury was not immediately apparent.

Scott-Wesley fell to the ground while in the middle of a route during drills. He got up in pain and walked over to the fence, where he was met by a trainer. Scott-Wesley walked off the field on his own power, accompanied by the trainer.

Any knee injury, minor or major, will be a worry for Scott-Wesley, who tore his ACL in October of 2013, and had arthroscopic knee surgery in early July. He returned in time for the start of preseason practice on Aug. 4, and in fact had been practicing without limitations.

It never ends, does it?

Hope he’s back sooner rather than later.

UPDATE:  Captured in the act on video, it’s even more depressing.

On a good note, Godwin is drawing some praise, saying he’s catching everything in his zip code…..I think with a healthy JSW, Mitchell, and Godwin, we could be special, though, so I hope JSW comes back. They were saying he was putting weight on it.

Was the ACL injury the right knee as well?

  4. I say it’s a sprain.

Agree, going by the way he was walking without a big limp.

I’m hoping it’s not serious considering he stood up using his right leg only. That’s a lot of weight to put on something if it’s hurting you really bad.

    • A sprain is an injury to a ligament. A minor first degree sprain results when a ligament is stretched but still intact. A third degree sprain is a complete rupture of a ligament. An ACL injury is a sprain, so I hope your diagnosis is incorrect.

Sent up some words that ice and elevation will fix it. Hoping for the best.

And this is why we might spend 20 of 25 scholarships in 2016 on WRs. Damn. Patch up, JSW.

Snakebit. Hope he’s better soon. On an unrelated topic, just returned from fly fishing trip to Montana. Saw three G logos there.

Billings and Columbus, and they were UGA, NOT Green Bay!

My son lives near there. Last time we went fly fishing we used his river craft to which he had specifically added a standing aluminum tube bar about 3″ thick for his old Pop. It doesn’t interfere with your fly casting and is handy for standing stability when fishing through rapids (Yellowstone; Class II at worst).

One of his close friends in the small town he lives in is a Dawg fan who is friends with an FU fan. He has seen Dawg apparel in larger nearby cities. I clued him in concerning “The Montana Project” and he had a good laugh about childish old fans.

Damn. I was hoping he would have sort of a Marlon Brown comeback type of year that would be great for the team and great for him personally. When I see these super athletes go down on non-contact injuries, I often think of the line Doc Holliday said about Johnny Ringo in Tombstone: “poor soul, you were just too high strung.” Some bodies can handle their parts being taxed with that kind of tautness and strain, and some can’t. I feel for the kid.

We seem to lead the world in knee injuries at the skill postions the last couple of years:

    Todd Gurley
    Aaron Murray
    Keith Marshall
    Malcolm Mitchell
    Michael Bennett (twice)
Justin Scott-Wesley (at least once and now?)

    (Who else am I missing?)

This is getting to the point where if I found out there was a conspircy, I wouldn’t be surprised. It seems that every time we have a player that makes a difference, it’s only a matter of time before he goes down with a knee injury.

I hope he is alright. You have to feel for the guy.

It could just be scar tissue “popping”. After a surgery, scar tissue can crack and pop (not the most scientific terms) and it can hurt and shock you a bit. Since he got up and put weight on it immediately after, I would think it something along those lines. Just my two cents.
