We gave up the computer formulas for this?

Really, what can you say about Jeff Long’s comment?

If that’s the best you can do, you might as well let the Coaches Poll back in the tent.  Sheesh.

Someone remind me why it was a bad idea to keep the BCS formula when we moved to a playoff?

Because playoffs are decided on the field and totally void of the subjectivity those pesky polls had 😉

Because the AP dropped out, the feeling was that there was too much reliance on the Coaches Poll, and the obvious vested interest there, and too little trust in computer polls. I think they felt that by controlling the outcome that they could makes sure that No. 5 is always the least powerful and/or convincing voice.

The real stupid part is the weekly release of the poll when they know that they will use expediency to modify things at the end. Much more flexibility, and ability to maintain credibility, if you aren’t doing a weekly poll.

The switch was to guarantee that there would not be 2 SEC teams in the finals any more.

Jeff knows body clocks are a huge factor and so are huge body clocks. In related news, Condi does a body count

Even though Flavor often seems aloof, his accessory is a reminder that he is actually quite aware. “I always say, ‘I’m clockin’, I’m clockin’.’ That means I’m paying attention, so you can’t get fast on me because I know what time it is.”

I miss the BCS, except for 2007.

So he said ‘body clocks’ instead of ‘jet lag’? That certainly convinces me.

Body Clock? I know a person’s body clock is the natural sleep/wake cycle of the body. Is this term referring to some natural rhythm of the football season? If so, WTF?

Committee is doing fine (I am overlooking the obvious screw-up of having ND 4th at this point in time but feel it will be worth it if they get jumped in the final poll like TCU did last year!) Major improvement over anything utilizing the coaches poll and random nerds doing computer power indexes with various theories. They will always be subjected to legit vocal critics because the task requires eliminating, at least, one conference champion every year from the abbreviated playoff system.
