Those of you hoping to see Jacksonville permanently in the rear view mirror of every Georgia fan are going to have to wait a while longer.
I, on the other hand, am looking forward to a few more enjoyable weekends on Amelia Island.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I second your last comment.

Glad to hear some traditions are still preserved…at least as long as it makes financial sense.

“Jacksonville must use its best efforts to create two (2) permanent ads inside Everbank Field for the game.”
What’s that all about?

Just a thought; but it’s a way to promote both us and UF during many of the NFL games and concerts that are held there too. Although not that the WLOCP isn’t already the biggest show in town.

A back and forth between them and the new Falcons/Mercedes Benz stadium would have been cool. oh, well. 😦

But we wouldn’t get our trip! You act like it’s even possible to go to the precious beach the other 51 weekends a year. Don’t you know us dawg fans just HAVE to go to the beach on that particular weekend? It’s programmed in our DNA.

Yeah. I’m sorry but I’d rather have a better chance at a championship than making sure a bunch of rich guys get to have a nice golfing weekend. But. That’s just me.

As a Jacksonville resident, I welcome the chance to watch my Dawgs play here each year. 🙂

After 34 trips to the game in JAX, i decided two years ago to stop going. Good timing. I still went to St. Simons for golf, party, etc. I told my group i would only go back if we had a new coach………………..guess I’ll be back this fall.

I quit a few years ago, because my knees were so bad and the physical demands of all day (my group got there at 8:30-9:00) tailgating and football was too painful (never mind the games) but I have had both replaced and am doing good, so it might time.

For some reason, I picture the people who whine about about Jacksonville are the same ones who curse the weatherman for rain.

I love it. Of course, I like campuses, but the Jax setting is the best for party tailgating. Plus, beach, golf, and I have 6 cousins in St. Augustine, so it’s kind of like family reunion time, too. We just need to have the team show up, too, and all will be right with the world.

And the annual Gators Eat Boogers golf and tailgate!

Yay we continue to give UF an unnecessary advantage so that old farts can have their little parties. The good news is that you’ll all be dead in 20 years (give or take) and all of us sensible ones who remain will sway this game away from Jax. I can’t wait!

I plead guilty to old fart status.
But unless you kids are prepared to toss a few extra millions in the pot, don’t be so sure about your swaying abilities.

And it is no advantage for the gators…. oh ye of short term memory – we used to own that town. There is a reason US 301 is called the Gator Trail of Tears….. the only difference is their coaching got better as ours got worse (Spurrier-Zooker-Corch-Agent Muschamp vs. Goff-Donnan-Richt. I think FU got the better of that one…).
Location had nothing to do with it.
Its a great tradition since the 1930’s and needs to stay exactly where it s forever (or until the world blows up).

I have a feeling the UF admin hung up the phone while snickering, then burst into belly laughs and high fives.
But hey, we can play golf on SSI in October!

I see that we still have folks who still believe the Gators own us because we play in Jax. And I thought it was Richt’s fault. I guess Kirby has no reason to even try to beat the Gators if we are still playing in Jax.

I sure didn’t hear many complaints from fellow Dawg fans about playing in Jax while we were kicking UF’s ass around the Gator Bowl in the 60s, 70s and 80s…

This is the silliest argument imaginable and you hear it all the time from WLOCP apologists. Please educate everyone on the level of talent/money/popularity/awareness the Gators’ program consistently had in the 60s, 70s, 80s compared to UGA and how that compares to today’s programs. I’ll hang up and listen.
I’ll spell it out for you: Playing the game in Jacksonville in the 60s, 70s, and 80s didn’t matter because of the disparity in the two programs (i.e., it didn’t matter where we played because they were terrible). Nowadays, that disparity in the programs is non-existent so any advantage (no matter how small) is unnecessary and can affect the outcome. Would Nick Saban agree to have Bama play Tennessee in Nashville every year? Even if it meant more money for the program? The answer is no. He’s probably smack you for even asking the question.
We have so-called “fans” who care more about their four day weekend in October than they do about the program. Like I said before, all of you Jax supporters will be dead in 20 years and hopefully by then we’ll have an AD who actually gets it.
In the meantime, enjoy your golfing and tailgating.

The Gators were terrible in the ’80s? They were ranked #1 in the country in ’85 when Georgia went in and rolled up their asses.
You can GFY with the scare quotes around “fans”, too. Just because some of us disagree doesn’t make us less supportive of the program.

Once again you’ve missed the point entirely. Some “fan” you are. The clock is ticking. Your life is almost over. Don’t waste it arguing with me. Enjoy your cocktail party while you still can.

Oh, I get your “point”.
Kinda funny to get lectured by someone who vowed he wouldn’t watch the bowl game when it was broadcast. You’re my kind of “fan”.

You still dont get it…THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE FOR THEM EXCEPT IN YOUR OWN MIND.
Most fans want the game in Jax. so just deal with it and move on to the next topic.

I have a mental image of the guy reading the Obituary page for the next 20 years, checking names off a list, shouting “finally!”, only to discover that Jacksonville was still paying enough money to keep the game there. As Trump would say: Sad!

I guess they need to move the Red River shootout because thats an advantage for Texas…..

My point exactly… I am assuming the ones doing most of the bitching are youngsters… Remember the “Gator Trail of Tears” ? by 8pm on game day the Gators had abandoned Jacksonville and slithered back to Gainesville while we partied the night away.

I really don’t care where the game is played. I just hope we can move on from the “this is just another game” train of thought. It’s not just another game. I won’t CKS to circle this game with a big red sharpie and say WE DO NOT LOSE THIS GAME!!! Everyone that talks about playing in the game says it is like no other atmosphere. Make it a point of emphasis again. We don’t lose to Florida in Jax. JMHO
