“They take care of themselves first, and us last.”

If Mark Emmert should ever part ways with the NCAA, this looks like the perfect career opportunity for him.

Amateurism is the best.

  1. Speaking of one of those athletes who doesn’t fall into this category, I saw Michael Phelps and the US swim team going into the pre-Olympic training headquarters at one of the luxury hotels in downtown Atlanta on Friday.

“Emmert parts ways with NCAA” is one headline I have been waiting for since about one month into his reign. Guy started out as a screw-up and ineptness on the part of the presidents has kept him at the top despite his obvious shortcomings. Good old academia, do they give him a trophy along with his bonus at the end of each year and pass him socially? Giving him a failing grade might hurt his little, tender feelings.

Emmett is sorta like the J Reid Parker director of athletics, except maybe not as cheap.

If you get a chance, watch the most recent HBO Real Sports episode. It’s about the IOC and how disgusting the Olympics has become.

The only thing that really rivals it in the world of sport is FIFA and the World Cup.
