Relax. Have a few.
- Nick Robinson’s path will take him from this year’s G-Day to the University of Pennsylvania.
- “That’s why I believe Georgia is the biggest sleeping giant of them all.”
- Nick Chubb was tackled in yesterday’s scrimmage. He also broke some tackles. Sounds like he’s coming right along.
- “I would call the commissioner and say, ‘The kid wants to go. Wherever he wants to go, let him go.’”
- The great thing about this article on cheap places to eat in Athens is how many of those spots have withstood the test of time.
- Bill Curry on his alma mater: “We major in moaning and complaining…” That’s gotta sting a little.
- The conclusion to Bill Connelly’s Georgia preview at Rock M Nation: “S&P+ says Georgia by 7.5, but it’s not hard to see a wide range of outcomes in this one, from “far easier UGA win” to “Mizzou upset.”.
- Adventures in amateurism, Olympics edition.
“I’m sure a lot of Georgia fans, as well as some others, will take exception to Georgia being on this list” …. Really? I’d think we’d be ecstatic. After 10 or so years of not winning the SEC.. is that perception not what we want?

It means we’re not living up to our abilities and our resources. It’s not a compliment.

Yeah, but unlike those other teams, we’ve already made the supposed course correction, and if they think we’re poised to break out, that’s a good thing.

I’ve always though the Taco Stand was overrated. The reason the food is inexpensive is because it’s low quality. I much prefer food at Taqueria del Sol.
I’ve also never been a huge fan of the Varsity (sacrilege, I know). Those onion rings are fried in 250 degree oil that was last changed during the Reagan administration.

Re: the Varsity – yeah it’s greasy, but it’s gooooooood. I’ll even eat at the one at Hartsfield since I rarely get Atlanta proper anymore.

I’d never actually eat at the Taco Stand, and I say that as someone who spent many late hours of his alcoholic college career getting smashed there and occasionally throwing up in that bathroom.

Knew a guy that was a manager of The Varsity that was in downtown Athens for years, and I know they changed the oil once a month whether it needed changing or not. 🙂
That said, it’s been a while since I would call Varsity food cheap eats. It’s mostly nostalgic eats that is over priced.

I haven’t eaten at the Taco Stand since the early 2000’s. I always thought it was good, but maybe today I wouldn’t feel that way. The Varsity is nostalgia.. no one cares about the quality.

I love the food, but it’s definitely not cheap. If you get what you want, it’s gonna be a $10.00 meal no matter what!

When I was in school, only the one on Milledge was there. Part of the ” late night trinity” of the Milledge-Prince area, along with Dunkin Donuts and Krystal’s. Those three along with Gumby’s delivering to the dorms til 2 a.m sustained a lot of late night munchies. A few Krystal’s, a cheese quesadilla, and a box of munchkins was a great combo.

“…Georgia is the biggest sleeping giant of them all. Not just because it has the capability to win national titles, but because it really already should have.”
And that quote sums up why a coach who managed to average over 9 wins per season for more than ten years got fired. But he did get a nice severance pay as a gesture of good will. We’ll always have some fond memories, and without a doubt he upped our game, but also had clearly hit a ceiling.

Bear Bryant said the same thing about Florida in the 70s. It took their hiring of Spurrier to put them over the top. Let’s hope Kirby is the guy to do it at Georgia.

UGA as the biggest sleeping giant. I know Senator will be shocked but this what I have been saying, and a reason why Richt’s or now Smart’s record should not be bench marked against Dooley and Butts. UGA has the resources to expect more.
