Oh, why not: first thoughts about the Liberty Bowl

For reals, I’ve tried to make an effort to do a little research this week about the game with TCU.  I’ve looked at stats, checked out the occasional position match ups story, pondered a few keys to the game, but it’s all been for naught, I’m afraid.

Face it, we’re looking at two teams wrapping up disappointing seasons.  Each does some things well and some things not so well.  That’s not much to go on, and the line, which is about a point in Georgia’s favor, reflects that.

If you’ve watched much of this bowl season so far, it’s reinforced the guiding principle that the team that shows up more motivated to win generally does so.  Is that Georgia?  Is that TCU?  Your guess is as good as mine.

Honestly, as of right now, that’s all I’ve got.  Although 8-5 sure sounds a lot better than 7-6.

  3. I don’t know who’s going to win, but CKS is doing the right thing by using this as an opportunity to build for next year. For me, it’s a glorified scrimmage. And anyone who watched the Russell Bowl last night should send Greg McGarity a ‘thank you’ note. It took an NFL-ready QB to rescue an otherwise CMR-style listless offense. We’ve seen too many of those slow starts and I’m glad to be done them. With the recruiting class we have coming in, QB JE taking a step forward, continued buy-in to the new paradigm, freedom from our legacy of mediocrity continues. 2017 is on its way.

    • Drive safely. I had no desire from the end of the tech game to go to a bowl game.

I seriously considered the trip. If the Dawgs are playing, I’m watching and I’m interested. Plus I’ve never spent time in Memphis.

I hope we beat TCU as bad as the last time (34-3, IIRC in Herschel’s freshman season). Woof!

Which Liberty Bowl is more meh? This year or 2010? My interest in college football brought me to this blog. Now my interest in this blog may be greater than my interest in college football. Buster’s right. Instead of a big check, I should send McGatory a thank you note.

I noticed that your avatar is missing the last few days. I take it that your new phone arrived. How do you like it?

Well done sir. You know how it is working thru the nuances. ZTE Axon 7. Sound from two front speakers and sound chip impressive. Mic chip impressive. MP Snapdragon 820. 4/64, dual sim tray. 128 gig removable SD. Aluminum body, curved 5.5 screen. Body designed by a grp that works for BMW. SOLID. midline priced phone that will carry me until Samsung introduces the next Note with a pen. Probably won’t be called a Note. Understand it’s about18 months away. After so that recall… Return, replace, recall again and kill the line from battery over heating. It wasn’t the battery but the battery tray was a little to small and didn’t allow for proper expansion. All that research, recall and kill the line probably cost Samsung a pretty coin.
Hope your holidays went well and Happy New Year.

TCU’s Patterson has been through a lot of big games, and come out on top in several. Not sure why we’re favored. Don’t expect TCU to hand it to us. Of course, I don’t expect much from our O or STs. Hope our young D has their best game of the year.

I’ve just about had it with noon starts. It wasn’t so bad back when we devoted an entire day to tailgating, attending games, and travelling. Now it’s a major timesuck in the middle of the day. Probably won’t be able to watch the game anyway.

I’ll be watching. I agree with your last sentence, winning is ALWAYS better than losing.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

CMR was 4-2 Between the Hedges. Beat uT, Candy and the gnats his first year. Yes we both will agree winning is better than losing. 😉
