Say what you want about the tenets of Georgia’s 2016 offensive strategy, dude, but when it comes to third-down conversion rates, at least it’s an ethos.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I don’t know what all the stats say, but Chaney’s offense was much easier on the eyes than Shottenheimer’s. Not to say the O was great this year by any stretch, but it wasn’t perpetually stuck in the sand.

Yes, it was. I hope – actually I believe – that far too much blame is being put on Chaney. I think we will see marked improvement this year and beyond.

Agree that it looked stuck in sand, quick sand perhaps. And Chaney is not getting too much blame, imo, he had both Chubb and Sony, a passer with the arm strength to stretch the field and keep defenses honest, and get stuffed by several teams. He had no answer, nothing. We cannot help but look better in 2017, although I fear we will look stagnant against the better defenses again. We were totally throttled and there appeared to be nothing as a Plan B. With the number of weapons at our disposal, that is concerning.

Exactly what I was thinking. Good show Senator.
Derek can’t watch though…or he has to pay a hundred.

By SEC standards … our 2016 OL was a “D” … hard to do much with sub-standard talent … just look at our OL season ending representation on the All Conference teams.

I guess I didn’t think about it it during the season, but I do recall thinking that on 3rd down, I expected us to convert. In the 2015 season, I pretty much knew that the drive was over if we got to 3rd down.

Our 3rd down percentage really tied the room together.

I also saw Mizzou on that list. I wonder how much improvement Mizzou shows if you take out the Georgia game?
