This really was one of my favorite moments from the SECCG.
When Johnson first looked up and saw three of Georgia’s defensive linemen in the backfield, his body language radiated “oh, shit”. Great call and perfect execution on that stunt.

The lines for each team definitely reversed their production in the two games, that was an all time performance by our coaches and players considering the outcome of that first game. This just proves the old saying that games are won in the trenches.

Mayfield is better at extending the play. Stidham was still looking for a receiver long after Mayfield would have taken off.

Shout out to Big Trent taking on that double team. Dude fires in there and draws two blocks. And somebody give 77 a hug. He comes up for 45 only to have 15 spin right behind him. He had to feel like he threw a rock at the ground and missed—all those bodies flying around and nobody to hit.

AU #77 is hilarious.

He totally blew his assignment. Everyone takes a short jab step left & he’s going right. The left OT clearly expects him to be stepping left & passes Walker off to block our LB.
It was a perfect call that AU didn’t handle well at all. Our coaches did a much better job of preparing & putting our players in position to win the battle.

Both tackles good lord. Not only does the RT #77 whiff on the spin move. Watch the RT. What the hell was he thinking?

Not to be that guy, but I think the RT is letting his defender loose on purpose. QB is reading the defender opposite the RT, and the RT goes to block the next guy downfield.

1) #77 for AU should have his own zoomed-in GIF of that play.
2) D’Andre Walker has earned more playing time. Had really good games down the stretch against UK, GT, AU.
3) I still can’t say enough about the adjustments Tucker and Chaney made on their respective sides of the ball for the SECCG.
4) I’ve enjoyed this season as much as any I can remember. No matter how it ends, I’m going to feel a sense of loss when it’s over.

I enjoy re-watching the games during the offseason. I couldn’t motivate myself to do so the last couple of years but this year is slam full of awesome games and plays. I will watch the whole season again before fall of 2018…maybe even multiple times.

Depth, particularly on the lines, is the biggest difference between good teams and great teams.

For sure and it brings improvement 2-fold. The starters get to rest when they need it and the backups are working hard to get more PT. We are able to bring our best every play. No one has to ‘take-off’ a play to rest. Saves on injuries too. Notice how healthy we’ve been this season.

Obviously you can never predict what would have happened in the future if the outcome had been different the first time we played Auburn and lost, but, it does seem like that loss, especially being man-handled and run over, refocused the team and ‘humbled’ the team enough to get them to work on composure and physicality and probably helped the coaches focus as well.

Humility is a bitch, brother. KS couldn’t have led up to that any better, and it came at a good time as we had an unusual chance for redemption. Lesson learned, but no more mulligans guys so listen up!

The DL stunts have been highly impactful at times this season. Notre Dame, MSU and the SECC come to mind. It changed the game against ND.

I may be wrong but I believe it was a DL stunt lead to the sack that ended that ND game. Either way, it really freed up those LBs in that game. It’s kind of a double edged sword, too, since it can sometimes free up those DL and it can be used against both the run and pass.

I felt sorry for Johnson. I don’t think he was actually in any sort of shape to be on the field. Gus was willing to sacrifice him for the win. I just hope it didn’t do him any long term damage.

I thought about it during the game. If the medical staff determined that playing wouldn’t cause further damage, it’s fine that he played. Most players want to in those kinds of situations if there’s any way to go at all. If there was a risk for further injury, then Gus is a scumbag.

My vote is Gus is a scumbag. KJ didn’t look like he had any business in a football game. He’s obviously one tough nut, but sometimes the adults have to tell the kids the bad news — unless the adults need the free labor the kids provide to get a million dollar raise.
PETA wouldn’t let you treat an animal the way Gus treated Johnson.

Lot of truth in all these comments. Gus is a scumbag and he, and his staff, should be investigated. They wouldn’t have won with him but that was way too much risk for him to take….and that offensive and training staff knew it. He was shying away from contact from the start, maybe at 65%, similar to a decent HS player. Lucky he got out before any real damage was added to his injury. Talented player, should get away from Gus and crowd.
