“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Wow. Did not see that coming.

Character matters… and if you don’t have any at 40 you won’t have any at 60.
And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours as well as all the Dawg Nation on this site. Hard to believe another year is in the books. 2018 WILL be the year of the Dawg. I can’t wait to be a part of it and hope to get to a game for the first time in almost a decade. Yall have fun in Pasadena… show them what college football is all about and bring home another week of glory for the rest of us.

Fulmer is playing Richard III, you watch he’ll end up being head coach again, stepping in during some “emergency” he no doubt helps create.

You mean Pruitt hasn’t landed a top 3 recruiting class in the 12 days he’s been on the job?! What are they paying him for?!
After hearing Gruden drone through the entire Falcons game last night, I was wishing he had taken the job at utk.

How can he be a “struggling” new coach when he hasn’t even moved in yet?
And, if you need Philip Fulmer’s credibility to boost you, you should commit suicide.

I think the LSU cat wanted to go home to Tennessee, got the money he wanted, and then had to actually work with Fulmer and Pruitt for a few days and grabbed his LSU lifeline.
Pruitt can coach football, and he can recruit. How far that gets him remains to be seen because there is more to it than that, and he has to actually win games before he can be a prick like Saban.
The 2021 UT coaching search is gonna be a doozy.

So Fulmer May be Pruitt’s Pruitt.

The opportunity is nowhere for struggling new coach Jeremy Pruitt to win with Butch’s players. In related entertainment news, Jeremy’s spoken to Phil and told him that if there is one more article like this, Phil better not open his door on any given Sunday morning

Penix, eh. I wonder what his middle school nickname was.

Yeah, I commented earlier what an unfortunate name that was. You can bet he’s tough, though. Sort of like a boy named Sue.

The Penix kid appears to be a good enough player where Willie Taggart wants him at FSU. UT did Penix a favor by pulling the offer IMHO. Get away from that Knoxville dumpster fire kid, while you still can!

So, Pruitt inherits a shitty recruiting class, Fulmer handles all of the recruiting since Pruitt is hired, the recruiting class still sucks, and it is Pruitt’s fault?
Aight.

Hold on there, pardner. They don’t take too kindly to folk who would oversimplify a story and connect the very linear dots up on Rocky Flop. They much prefer to be circumspect and savor the sublime nuances of their whackadoodle conspiracy theories. Thank you very much.

Yeah, their next SEC win will snap a losing streak. Doesn’t matter the team.

Pruitt. 2 years at FSU. 2 years at UGA. 2 years at Bama. Give him 2 years with Fulmer before he leaves UT.
Pruitt has to remember he was hired by Fulmer. This is and always will be Fulmer’s football program. In fact Fulmer is the actual head coach.
In fact this staff is being put together by Fulmer. Pruitt is looking for his old buddies, Friend and Sherrer. While Fulmer is bringing in T Martin and former players / associates.
Appears Rocky Top is already split.
Never good for a former player plus HC to become your AD. The mindset and culture at UT is it is Fulmer’s UT program and team, and nobody else!!

I also read somewhere recently that he’s even trying to finagle it to where he’s only the AD for football… and none of those other sissy sports.
I just need for someone to explain to me how that’s not him being the Head Coach… I mean, apart from not having to do the actual crappy work that a coach does.

Agree. The Chancellor is the real culprit here. She’s the one ultimately responsible for the return of Phat Phil as AD. Basically she got manipulated by Fulmer. Now he is ensconced as AD and will undermine everything Pruitt tries to do. This is playing out just perfectly–for us!

Good to hear you are no longer wary of the Pruitt-Fulmer axis. When the announcement was originally released you seemed to be shaken.

Pruitt is a damn good football coach and if left alone and given the financial support he needs would be a formidable adversary. What I said at the time of the announcement of Pruitt’s hiring by UT was that the only thing that would prevent Pruitt from succeeding in turning UT around would be Phat Phil’s meddling. It looks like that is coming true. Yippee!! 🙂

Personally, from a Georgia perspective, I’m way more worried about Florida under Mullen than I am Tennessee under Pruitt. Even if Pruitt is a really good coach, which is far from guaranteed, he’ll have to overcome structural obstacles to success in Knoxville. Hard to imagine that. Should be fun to watch though!

I WAS more worried about UT than FU because, frankly, I think Pruitt is a better coach (at least potentially) than Mullen. Mullen is a good but not great coach who will continue to win 8-10 games per year at Florida, but no championships, like he did at Missy State. Now that it looks like Fulmer is torpedoing his own hire, you’re right–Florida under Mullen may be Georgia’s chief rival and Georgia is going to come out on top as long as Kirby Smart stays there IMHO. Personally I’m thrilled with the way things are working out. The other team we may really have to watch out for in the future is Mizzou. their HC turned them around mid-season and the Tigers now won 6 games in a row with the bowl game yet to come against a so-so Texas team. I’m thinking they win that game for an 8-5 season and a 7 game winning streak that could really help them in recruiting.

I’d pump the brakes on the Mizzou love hard. They are currently ranked 39th in recruiting even with 20 commits. They may not crack the top 40 when all is said and done. Even Ole Miss has a better class right now. Not to mention their excellent OC just got hired away to be the HC at UCF. I think Mizzou stays down.

Somebody from UT needs to write a book about Phil and his career and I have the title “The Prince of Thieves”. Dude has stolen every job he has gotten.

Phat Phil is the most ethically challenged college football coach/AD I have seen in 50 years of following college football. While HC at UT he coached his players to cheat and conducted himself in a dishonest manner stabbing his employer Johnny Majors in the back while Majors was recovering from open heart surgery to get the UT HC job. A true slimeball.
