What “buying in” sounds like

Boy, especially considering the timing, this is one helluva thing to say to your head coach:

As the Bulldogs were getting ready to run out of the tunnel and onto the field, Chubb found Smart and told him, “I’ll go anywhere with you, and I’ll follow you anywhere, and I’ll fight for you because I believe in you.”

I gotta think that’s something that would give even Kirby Smart goosebumps.

UPDATE:  You can find the clip of Smart’s reaction to what Nick said here.  Yeah, I’d say he felt it.

The kids love him. That says a lot.

DGD. Chubb should be talked about the same way Herschel, Sinkwich and Trippi are.

And yes, it’s great to see the kids buy into Kirby’s plan. Who’s going to step up next season?

“Who’s going to step up next season?”

Actually this is an exciting time of the year for me. I love to review the roster and start putting the pieces together (in my mind of course). We still have lots of talent with some experience and exciting newbies coming in. Can’t wait for the smoke to clear and find out who all is staying and who is leaving. I’m also excited about closing out this recruiting class to see who else is coming. Then onto spring practice. CFB really is almost year round for me.

Dawgtired, I printed out a list of the roster and 2018 signees. Crossed out the seniors and started looking at next year. Their is a lot of talented players vying for 5 OL spots. Underclassmen, Redshirts and incoming freshmen…..Spring and Fall practices will be awesome competitions.

And I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have disrespected Sony. He and Nick are the “Charlie and Frankie” of this generation.

Chubb and Michel have something that you just don’t see much of today. They could write a book if it could be put into words. I guess that’s why it’s called intangible.

Go to 2:05 on the video…I’d say it did give him goosebumps.

Nick Chubb is very high in the pantheon. He needs to have a place with us forever.

Kirby had to fight to keep his composure when he relayed that story in the post game presser. I thought for sure it would be the Quote of the Day on this site for the offseason

Look, I don’t know Chubb aside from what I watch or read, but that young man exudes class, character, integrity and ability (you know, all the things Kiffin lacks). Not that he’ll likely need it, but if that guy ever wants a beer while I’m around, I’m buyin’. And Sony isn’t far behind.
You can tell watching the interview, Chubb was crushed and didn’t want to be there. Sony, thankfully, took control. But both guys said the correct things.
But I’m my experience as a Bulldog fan, Chubb is the pinnacle, with Sony, Greene, Pollack, Curran and a few others in the next tier.

Two of the best to ever don a Bulldog uniform.

If Nick Chubb rubs off, even a little bit, on the younger players, he’s left this program something that can’t be bought. I think I’m sadder to see him go than I have ever been over any other Dawg.

Certainly hate losing 2 guys like Chubb and Sony. It is going to be really difficult to replace all intangibles that this team had.

Almost as much as the loss itself, I hate that Chubb wasn’t able to have a great game Monday night. I’ll miss that guy.

  11. That’s the only thing that worries me going forward. Guys like Chubb and Sony can’t be “replaced”, I don’t care who you put at tailback. I think Fromm has the same kind of intangibles in spades so I think we’re going to be ok.

I don’t know if there are any two players that I will miss more after they moved on from UGA. Chubb and Michel are all time favorites in my book.

I agree with those two will be missed deeply forever. This team exceeded my expectations for the season’s accomplishments but I wished they wasn’t held back by officiating to end their careers, and I mean all the seniors when it comes to that. I can’t wait to see the on the sidelines in the future teaching all the young pups the way…the Georgia Way.
