House money

Vegas remains impressed with Georgia.

  • Georgia’s 10.5 wins is tops on the board, along with Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma.
  • Georgia is tied at third, with Ohio State, for national title odds.
  • Jake Fromm is third in Heisman odds, tied with Tagovailoa.  (Swift is also on the list, at 33/1.)

He makes some good points in his follow up tweets.

That may be natural for a large percentage of fans, but not so for any decent bettors, most of the easy bets will be always be on other teams, simple math.

But last season, as I mentioned several times pre-season, UGA was the easiest money you could ever expect to have. It was the closest to a guaranteed win I can recall, and I say that as someone who challenges his objectivity every single bet I make on UGA. The over/under was eight, meaning UGA had to go 7-5 for you to lose money, eight was a push as I recall (it could have been 7 1/2), don’t remember. I said it multiple times as it came up in a few posts. I won $2K on an almost even bet, believe it was 115/100. The only issue with the bet was it ties up your money until after the season but as an almost certain win, it was better than anything else you could do with your money for a 6 month, practically guaranteed return. I can also say, the number this year is not a good one to bet, imo. There are better options but it will take hours of study to find them; last year was a slam dunk with little required but a quick review of the schedule and your current knowledge of UGA’s personnel.

  2. And right behind Georgia in those national title odds? Michigan, of course. Just as we all…expected?

Jeez, Fromm is a contender for the Heisman? When did the media ever allow a Georgia player to even think about that in the last 38 years?

Shoot, I was thinking about laying down some mad money on Swift at 33:1. It’s legal now, I’m told.

So, the win totals indicate the expectation for a repeat of last year’s playoffs?

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it strange that a kid with probably less than a one full game is showing as a Heisman contender?

I thought the same thing, and then I thought how insane his performance was coming off the bench on that huge stage.
