Ward to transfer.

So much for that glut of talent at the tight end position:  NaDerris Ward is transferring at the end of the semester.  I hope things work out well for him and his family.

This may change recruiting plans a bit:

Ward’s departure leaves new Georgia tight ends coach John Lilly with three scholarship players at the position for next season — senior Tripp Chander, sophomore Bruce Figgins and freshman Bryce Ros — or four if you include redshirt freshman Aron White, who also plays receiver. Georgia lost commitment Dwayne Allen from North Carolina to Clemson on signing day earlier this month.

It would have been nice if he transferred last semester so UGA could have offered Hunter or Sanders or at the very least show Allen that the TE position was not so crowded. Time for one or two of those young guys to step it up.

We go from a full cupboard to a bare one in the blink of an eye. I would say we have to include White in the TE rotation now.
Since Allen pulled his “switcheroo” I believe the coaches know they must sign at least one TE in the next class. However it may be necessary to sign two, if not in the next class then ’10 for sure. Because from what I’ve seen from Figgins I don’t think he stays for his senior year, barring injury or suspension.
