The chosen quarterback

Here’s something I didn’t know until I saw this Steve Hummer article about Aaron Murray – Murray is a Member of the Tribe.

That leads me to three quick observations:

  1. Doug Gillett was at least semi-prescient with this post.  Or I’m more out of touch than he is (entirely possible, sad to say).
  2. One of my cherished scenarios is in play again.
  3. I finally have a witty response to the “is Jared Zabransky Jewish?” queries I get from time to time.

  1. Half-Jewish and half-Catholic? Oy vey (and Mother Mary). As a Papist myself, I can only imagine the kind of guilt that kid’s had to grow up with.

He attends pretty regularly at the Catholic Center at UGA. I’ve seen him there a couple times for whatever that’s worth.

As a papsist myself, I hope all that guilt keeps him in the film room even longer. You know, otherwise he would be letting his teammates down. And the entire state of Georgia….

    Senator,
I had no idea you were Jewish but it helps to explain your democratic bent, even as our president hussein treats our most trusted middle-eastern allie with disrespect and (some would say) contempt.

I don’t think Ben Netanyahu forgets or forgives that easily. Hopefully the American Jewish community will not either.

  5. Is Hutson Mason going to get the start against Arkansas?

Hopefully it will be a night game. Not that I expect Murray would miss the game, but it would be nice if he didn’t have to deal with the guilt. 😉

May I humbly suggest some caution: Don’t take this too far. Jokes about matters of faith aren’t funny to everyone. This thread doesn’t have much upside potential.

Oh good grief… let’s all leave our sensitive hats at the door. I’m tired of every place I visit trying to be PC. Those that are offended can GTFO.

For whatever it’s worth (and I imagine it’s worth a lot to Aaron), I think the kid’s a pretty good Christian kid. If you’ve seen the video of the day he committed to UGA, it was pretty clear. It’s cool that he has some heritage in another faith, that obviously is the roots of his faith now.

Let’s be glad that it seems like we’ve got a leader for the next four years that looks like he has his head on straight.

I go away for awhile, apparently not for long enough, come back and find we’ve got a verbal from a new QB and that our chosen starting QB is half-Catholic. Now I know how this chick feels…

The way i usually start is by concentrating and staring at the blank lower right-hand side of the Get The Picture home page until some random multiple choice question with a drop-down menu of answers (a) through (d) appears on the inside of my forehead. Similar to what shows up inside Terminator 1’s head when he is going through his answer selection process. After everything gets in focus, if it ever does, i then just guess and pick one of the random answers. Usually it’s the wrong one though just as it was in this case.

I had to stop watching when she started to lose it. It’s heartbreaking. I want to mock it, but I can’t.

The obvious question is that if he is half-Jewish, which half is that? (mother or father).

Very dangerous territory you are entering here Senator.

One of the things I learned in the first three months in Athens was to be very careful who I told what.

Junkyardawg- Does the Catholic center still have the granite almost obelisk podium/pulpit and baptismal fount that looks like it should be inside a circle of stones at Stonehinge, England? Do the priests still wear the monks’s robes and sandals? I thought that they were cool when my eldest son was baptised there in 1970.
