Mindful of Tommy Perkins’ Afghanistan analogy, I don’t find Miami having a worse recruiting season than Georgia Tech good news for Georgia fans.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
At least Florida State is doing very well. There is a lot more overlap with Georgia when it comes to recruiting however, at least Florida State plays Florida every year unlike Miami. I know that recruit picking FSU at least has the opportunity to beat UF every year.

Seems to me the kids he gets to come in to Miami this year will be just fine. Sometimes I wonder if the kids that are ranked lower have a chip on their shoulder anyway to prove everyone wrong.
The star ratings may be all well and good for judging athleticism, but it doesn’t gauge a kid’s heart. Give me team-oriented, dedicated 2 and 3 star athletes over a selfish, lazy 4 and 5 star kids all day.

Try telling that to all the fans who howl every time our recruiting ranking falls out of the top 10.

I don’t think anyone would give a crap about recruiting rankings if we were winning SEC titles.
But with 6-7 seasons, recruiting rankings are the only thing people can cling to for a little hope.

Miami’s loss is indeed Florida’s gain. You probably know this but just in case, before Shannon took over at the U, Miami had started losing its death grip on recruiting down here. Florida hadn’t had any measurable success until Coker. Shannon being a local guy turned that around, but now Golden wants to go national. Whether Golden succeeds or fails, the one sure thing is South Florida recruiting has opened up and I would love to see Georgia make a strategic strike or two down here in the next recruiting cycle.
Thanks for the good work you do on this blog!
