Say what you will about Les Miles, but at least he was able to fashion a functioning quarterback out of JaMarcus Russell, which is more than anybody else has been able to do.

    If Miles could get anything out of Russell, Mett should win the Heisman.

    I had to go back and check LSU’s record last year. 11-2. Wow. To put that kind of season together without a real QB at the helm is pretty good. Call him the Mad Hatter or whatever you want. It takes more than big balls and luck to put this kind of record together in the SEC.

    John Lucas is a nice up/down/redemption story as well, and I don’t blame him at all for giving Russell the boot.

    There is a phrase that was popular with LSU fans after the first time that LSU beat Urban Meyer’s Florida team that sums up the fanbase’s opinion of the man, “our idiot just beat your genius”

      No chance… QC was talent without character. I once heard a HS coach comment on kids coming to Georgia…. ” you can take the kid outta the hood but you can’t take the hood outta the kid.” referencing QC. I can’t help but believe he helped little Mikey out the door here. College Park is a hood no doubt. Gosh we watched some qb talent leave when QC was anointed qb. That has a got to be one of those..”if I would have known then what I know now ” moments for Jim Donnan.
