Weiszer has Georgia’s 2014 football schedule – and it’s pretty sweet.
That’s a bye week between Clemson and South Carolina (the ‘Cocks open with TAMU, by the way, and play East Carolina the week before playing Georgia) and a bye week before Florida, which is about as good as you could ask. Oh, yeah, the other cross-division game is against Arkansas.
Can’t wait for the Spurrier quotes about this.

UPDATE: Here’s the complete 2014 conference schedule. Looks like Florida drew the short straw and got Alabama as the cross-divisional rolling opponent. The Gators will play Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina that season. Boom!

What will happen in 2015 and beyond is still up for debate, according to UGA Athletic Director Greg McGarity. Conference leadership is still in ongoing discussions about that. However, McGarity did say he does not expect the SEC to adopt a nine-game conference schedule.
Bummer.

Well next year is a big change. This year only one time do we play back to back weeks at home. 2014 two times we have 3 home games in a row. When your driving 400+ miles to get there it’s nice if you can stay a while.

Well if we don’t get it done and win the MNC this year there is always next year. I can’t believe that we aren’t playing Bama or A&M next year. Hutson Mason is poised to be the “Tee Martin” of UGA.

You are assuming that Mason is the starting QB next season. I don’t think that is a given with Brice Ramsey coming up with a year under his belt to learn the system. After all, Mason really won’t have much, if any, more significant game experience over Ramsey (barring an injury to Murray this year of course).
Unless the coaching staff believes that Mason offers a significantly better chance of winning next season, I don’t know why they would want to put themselves in the position of having to deal with a QB transition two years in a row (in 2014 and 2015).

I would most definitely assume that Mason being QB1 starting off next year is a given, barring an injury that keeps him out of course.
I get the point you make about having to make the transition in consecutive years, but every discernable piece of info I’ve ever seen on the kid says that he is damn good and has earned the right to be the man next year.

Hutson stayed because he was promised the chance to compete. He will be given that chance and if he is the best QB he will start. He is more of a Joe Cox guy though, and I think he gets passed over.

Perfect draw for us. Though I do hope we can eventually get the even year October schedule problems out of the way. I know a lot goes into making the league schedule, but for us it would be much more advantageous to have the mizzou and vandy games switched.

If Fl “regresses to the mean” this year–and by that I mean they come down off of that 11 win season by maybe 2 games (which I think most agree last year they played over their heads a little) –and then they get buzz-sawed by that schedule next year? Someone’s seat is going to be pretty warm going into a season with a new QB in 2015. Fans hate downward trends more than they hate losing seasons.
If Driskell gets hurt or anything, the wheels could come off. I’m just saying…he does run it a lot.

I’m assuming that’s a joke, as we play Clemson, UT, Auburn & Tech all at home, which is the best home schedule we’ve had since ’95 when we had South Carolina, Alabama, Florida and Auburn at home. Pardon me if I missed the snarkiness.

UT and Auburn are bad right now and Tech is mediocre. If this is the best home schedule in 18 years, our home schedules have been even worse than I thought they were.
Obviously, a lot can change between now and next year’s games but all we have to evaluate them on is the here and now. And here and now, there’s one great game on that schedule and that’s it.
By the way, I’m pretty sure DawgPhan was laying on the snark.

Cube, that schedule is for 2014. By then Auburn likely will be back to where the WarTigers were under Malzahn as HC instead of OC. UT, while I hope they continue to suck, probably won’t forever and ’14 will be the second year under Jones. The second year under CMR was when UGA won 13 games. And Tech–let’s just hope they don’t develop a D by then ’cause if they do they’ll be tough to beat. Just be glad the home schedule isn’t UK, Mizzou, Missy State and 3 OOC cupcakes.

Unless he’s the second coming of Shockley, I’m not positive he’ll be able to do it with no real game experience. But … if we do still have the aforementioned 2x 5-star junior backs, a veteran OL, and a D with tons of talent and experience, we may only need a game manager at QB.

There’s been talk of that for GT-UGA[moving to first game not last] I think the closest it got to actually happening was for the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff game, but IIRC neither side wanted to give up their home game in the series. Dan Radakovich seemed to be the driving force behind that, and he’s gone to Clemson now.
As a GT fan, I guess beginning our season with crushing disappointment would at least be different than ending our season with crushing disappointment.

And as I so often like to do, let me quote myself and say that makes it strange and somewhat offensive that we have not yet been Radakoviched (v.) – when your athletic director cancels games with opposing teams he respects even though he knows it would be great fun to play them.

Its impossible to know what teams wil be good every year. You cant pick and choose your schedule and put bama and Lsu on there every year. No one knew about TxAM being good in the SEC, so i don’t see how we “avoided” them. Last season, people were saying we avoided Arkansas, look how that turned out. Bottom line, this isnt the Pac12 or Acc, these are still Trans that could beat you any given Saturday if you let them. Gotta play who you gotta play, no other way around it.
