I have no idea what Tray Matthews is complaining about here…
… but I sure hope it isn’t about this.
“There’s something going on. He’s probably got to take some more ownership too. … He might need to spend a little more time with flexibility stuff in the offseason than maybe another guy might have to.”
Accountability can be a bitch sometimes.
Perhaps “Trigga Tray” needs a one-way bus ticket back to Newnan.

Could be, because I don’t think that mindset is going to survive under Pruitt. If he wants to be entitled and do things his way, he’s now in the wrong place.
And good riddance, if the light doesn’t come on. I haven’t seen anything impressive on the field. So I’ve been wondering for a year now, since the last year’s G-Day, whether Matthews was yet another recruiting mistake for our secondary.
So far, it’s looking like the answer is yes.

I agree he might need an attitude adjustment, but he’s a stud, Could be the best safety we’ve had since TD.

Point well taken, Mike.
I have to be honest and say I haven’t seen anything stud-like. But even if he is a stud, he’s no good without his head on straight. Plus, a safety needs to be smart, or at least smart enough, and Matthews doesn’t give that impression.
We’ve had a lot of studs who couldn’t play because they didn’t have it upstairs.

I wonder if black people in America realize that a huge portion of the overall population, not just blacks, have ancestors that were slaves at one point in history.
LikeLike
Absolutely true, though in fairness only blacks were enslaved in America (whereas our ancestors were enslaved elsewhere…most likely Europe). I was surprised to find out a number of years back that my ancestors were enslaved by the Russians several hundred years ago.
With that said, TM has not been deleteriously affected by his great great great grandparents enslavement whatsoever (neither have I), so him mentioning slavery as some sort of pity plight is not only absurd, but surely offensive to endured such conditions of yesteryear.

Actually, slavery was rampant among indigenous Americans (especially in the south) and in early colonial days by Europeans of the indigenous (though it was an abject failure b/c the natives would kill the Europeans so frequently).

Black people also owned slaves in America, though.
Here’s a fun fact: the first judicially declared slave owner in America was black.

Gotta agree with you. Richt made the statement on Saturday, Tray’s tweet was on Tuesday, 3 days later. Not saying there’s no way they are related, but I do think it’s a bit of a leap to connect them. Lots can happen in 3 days. (Though I do agree with others that the slavery analogy was most likely out of line, regardless of what he was referring to).

Actually, Trey, in all likelihood, EVERY person on this planet is descended from slaves.
Further, slavery is still rampant in certain corners and exists in this country right now, though not in the way that it existed 200 years ago.

The triangle of slavery/native submission formed in Georgia is still one to figure out. We took well-educated businessmen/slave owners arising from the smart and emulating Cherokees and transposed them to the richest oil land we could find in Ok. The Cherokees elected to leave most of their slaves in Georgia. Not sure if the slave-owning Cherokee elected to the Ga Senate stayed or went.

Nah… the problem is for the first time in Trey’s precious lil life he has a coach(Pruitt) who is not beholden to him. Secondly, as good as Tigger, Wiggins and all the others think they are Pruitt has seen and coached better. My son, called me from the game Saturday and goes ” Dad Pruitt ain’t playing, I just watched him cuss Shaq Wiggins out and snatched him off the field for dancing to the music between plays” It’s the new Sheriff boys we got some law and order round here now yeehaww get’em sheriff!!

If cussing out defensive backs was the measure of a good DC, Grantham would’ve been assistant of the year in 2013 based on frequency alone. Let’s see our defense play some games that count before we anoint Pruitt our savior on that side of the ball.
LikeLike
Exactly. Cussing at players is just the red meat of coaching schemes for some fans. “Oh look he is a grown man acting like a real asshole to those young students…He must be a great coach.”
You would think that 10+ years of watching CMR operate that most UGA fans would get that yelling and cussing doesnt equal great coaching.
LikeLike
Looked like CMR got into Thorton for the unsportsmanlike penalty when he tossed the ball in the air after the 1stQ fumble recovery…which I was happy to see. Wasn’t it Thorton who leapt on the pile late against USC last year that backed us up to the goal line after we stopped them on 4th & Goal at the 3? (Might be wrong about the player, but not about the need to keep coaching how to maintain discipline.)

I did not make it clear CD.It was not the cussing. Every coach does that, It was Pruitt dealing with Shaq to focus on the task at hand.I do have to confess I have already anointed him. Actually, I’m wishing for a Glory Road experience where Pruitt is Coach Don Haskins and Trey, Shaq and the rest are Bobby Joe’s with same ending of course.

If this tweet reflects the level of his intelligence, it may explain some of the problems he had understanding his role as a DB last year. In fact, it makes me question how he got into UGA. I am pretty certain MLK would be disappointed to see how the achievements of his life’s work are being squandered by those it was intended to benefit. This young man has every opportunity to succeed in life but instead whines about that which doesn’t exist any longer. He never lived as a slave, and the remarks that I see thrown around about him being on a plantation now are absurd.
Everyone I have ever met is saddened about the slavery portion of America’s history, and I know of no one who wants a return to that. There is no obstacle in front of Matthews to prevent his becoming successful except that of his own making. I reserve my sympathy, and support, to those who were born with severe handicaps, or to parents who would not let them rise to their potential through abuse within the home.
