“I think it will make the offense more effective.”

Alabama’s offense pretty much blew at this weekend’s A-Day game, but that’s only because Junior was holding back 90% of the playbook, y’all.

You’d think Alabama’s got so much talent on the offensive side of the ball that it really doesn’t matter who’s calling the plays, but, then again, that’s what they thought at Southern Cal the last three seasons.

I watched a little of Auburn’s. They stacked the deck for Nick Marshall.

I hope that hiring Lane Kiffin will prove to be Nick Saban’s moment of hubris. ‘Sure he’s a pathological liar, but I’ll control him.’

I still don’t get why Saban did this. I can’t say that I hope it works out for him. I hope it blows up….and what an incentive for Tennessee.

I find it hard to believe Kiffin can get a job at a major program. I mean, how many people get fired at a road game?

CTG lands on his feet for 1 million guaranteed. Ellis Johnson takes a Conf. USA Champ to 0-13 and then Auburn hires him for $800,000. It’s a crazy world. At least the NCAA is straightening out the meal plans for the kids that are responsible for all this largess.

Unfortunately, Ellis Johnson was an excellent hire for the Barners. He may have hit the ceiling as a coordinator but he is near the ceiling in that position. Not unhappy with our current choice but Johnson will make Auburn much better on defense if Malzahn leaves him alone.

That was cold especially if it was true about him needing to find other transportation home…….how fed up do you get before you do that to somebody?

Saban’s hit that point where he’s a bit too sure of himself.

I always scoff at the idea of holding back the playbook in spring. After Alabama plays West Virginia, opposing coaches will have seen everything anyway. Certainly after the Week 4 date with Florida, the cat will be fully out of the bag. So why does it matter? Everyone has tape of Kiffikins’ offense at Tennessee, and we’ve all got tape of the offense at Southern Cal. It’s not like whatever Kiffykins trots out in September will be a shock.

“We’ve barely used the playbook” was an ill-advised rallying cry when Donnan was calling tunnel screen after tunnel screen as I recall…
