What trumps a decided schematic advantage?

Charlie Weis blames his failed, albeit well-paying, tenure at Notre Dame on… you ready?… ambitious assistant coaches.

No, really.

Weis said his struggles at Notre Dame could be traced to the composition of his coaching staff. Three of his assistants — Michael Haywood (Miami, Ohio), Rob Ianello (Akron) and Brian Polian (Nevada) — eventually left to run their own programs.

“I hired too many people that wanted to use the school as a steppingstone for a head coaching job,” Weis said.

What a prince.  Though it’s kind of hard to believe there isn’t a dumb enough AD left in America to give him another shot.

I doubt those coaches tell anyone they are from the Charlie Weis coaching tree.

“Thanks to his contract buyouts at Notre Dame and Kansas, Weis is owed $24.6 million through December 2016.”

Wow. and people think players shouldn’t be paid because schools can’t afford it.

Talk about a total lack of self-awareness…which actually makes for a quite funny article that is dripping in irony. He openly complained about assistants keeping an eye out for better opportunities out there (and eventually leaving), then he ends with this gem:

“I root for one team, Alabama, because I love my son,” Weis said. “If he leaves Alabama, then I don’t root for Alabama anymore.”

So Weiss’ own son is one of those ungrateful, ambitious assistants that he riled against. That’s basically the main takeaway here, in which their upcoming Thanksgiving will be an uncomfortable affair. Otherwise, Weiss is being laughingly hypocritical.

Charlie Tuna…can’t keep a job, can’t win in college, can’t keep his fat mouth shut. Good to know he roots for Alabama, surprised he has time for that…excuses take time, ya know?

The nubnuts ahole seems to have no idea how he ever won a game. It was those coaches who made the difference. Can’t you see the three huddled to one side getting their ratfuck game on?

Says the guy who used his one year at Florida to land the Kansas job. Maybe he blames himself for Muschamp’s failure.

  12. We should make him head coach in waiting. That would shut the folks who think we could do better than Ritch up.
