There’s always something to play for.

It’s Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate Week, so I don’t want to hear whining from any of y’all this week about how the season is in the crapper so the Tech game isn’t a big deal.

It always matters.  Always.

If making sure that the Jackets don’t manufacture their first winning streak in over a decade doesn’t matter, if making sure that Georgia starts another win streak doesn’t matter, then how ’bout this?

More for the record book

The loss means, among other things, Tech will experience either the largest one-season drop-off in win total in school history or tie for the largest. The 1929 team followed the 1928 national championship team’s 10-0 record with a 3-6 season. If the Jackets lose to Georgia, they’ll have fallen from 11-3 to 3-9.

Sounds good to me.  Also, let’s try to beat ’em in regulation, fellas.  At least that way Georgia Southern can have some bragging rights about which team pushed the Dawgs harder.

I’m curious about the ticket situation. I imagine the few fans gtu had at the beginning of the season has dwindled down to a trickle. So is this a sell out?

I will say this again. Tech (and many other teams) hold back tix to sell on Stubhub and Vivid Seats. They did not sell out of season tix and also never offered a public sale for the UGA game. So what happens to all of those?

Just look at how many blocks of 10+ are listed. It’s a dirty dirty dirty game these days and until the general public causes a stir, they will continue to be fleeced.

I have been successful in the past walking into the GT ticket office game week and getting tickets. Wearing a yellow or blue shirt helps.

Plus we haven’t lost to them in Atlanta this century. That’s a steak that needs to keep going.

That said….. if beating Tech means Richt gets another year. DEATH TO TECH.

I don’t care what it means. We must always beat Tech.

Now see… thats logic that even Richt haters agree with. I want him to stay but if i were finished with him…. id still want him to WIN and get another year than lose to those terrorists….

Tech looks terrible. I did not see that coming and was instead very concerned they would beat us again. I don’t see how they beat us now, but I still don’t think we score enough points to get comfortable.

Exactly. They’re garbage, but when we struggle to put together 20 points even against bad defenses…I’m not overflowing with confidence.
Be nice if the D hands the genius a shutout though.

A tech loss may fire Richt, but its a chance I’ll never take to hope for in the end. Beat Tech. This past year all I have heard is how they beat us, piss on em.

Can’t put up a Christmas tree if you lose to Tech. That’s the rule.

The kickoff time is finally set for Saturday’s football game between Georgia Tech and Georgia at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The game will start at noon and will be televised on ESPN2, the ACC announced early today.

Debby Downer here. GSU gave us all we could stand. The defense has to play lights out to stop the QB run. I don’t think they are as good as GSU but unless Paul J has lost the team, the Georgia boys on there will like their heads are on fire. We can’t sleep walk on this game.

No true Dawg fan likes losing to Tech. That being said, the Jackets register very low on my rivalry list. Tech is merely an annoyance of a team that we have to face every year. Winning is nice because it is another W and I live in Atlanta. Losing is awful because they are an inferior program, much like a little brother that is kept at bay with one arm upon their forehead. Florida, Auburn and Tennessee rank much higher upon the rivalry scale with no sign of Tech. Carolina and Tech are the same annoyance, yet Carolina is a conference game with automatically ranks them higher.

    • I’d agree that I don’t consider Yech as big a rival as several SEC teams but having to listen to their obnoxious nerd fans if they win might be the worst experience.

It’s not the rivalry it once was. We tend to get emotionally involved with the games that are close year to year. Tech hasn’t been that way for us for a while. But older guys like me remember Buck Belue coming off the bench to lead a spectacular fourth quarter comeback capped off by a two point conversion to beat Tech in 1978. That I was watching with my oldest brother, a Tech graduate, made it all the sweeter. So yeah, let’s always beat the North Avenue Trade School.

“It always matters”. Well, for one week every year they matter but who really thinks about them otherwise? I get the five dozen fans they have run their mouths when they occasionally get the upset but what a non-factor these guys are. And yeah, the number of GT fans that own their clothing swells to six dozen on those years but this is the only week of the year they matter. Can you spell “irrelevant”? Wish we would drop both GS and GT from the schedule, no more triple option teams, please!
