One day, when the book on the 2015 Georgia season comes out, I will read the chapter on the Georgia/Flordia game first. Of all the decisions that Richt made in Athens, this one is the most puzzling to me and makes it makes less and less sense every time it is discussed. Maybe Richt just pulled a George Costanza and decided that he would do the complete opposite of what he normally would do. That’s it fellas! I have figured it out!!! Mystery solve!

I would love to have the inside scoop on what happened between October 18 and November 29, 2015. It just seems like the program got off the rails and then spun completely out of control. It would be a great read …

Starting Fauta would have looked better if he could have run some option which would have played to his strengths. Instead, he was forced to go pro style.

CMR threw the game. He started the 3rd string running QB and never wavered as UGA called pass after pass. Heck, they were still throwing after multiple picks….all against our biggest rival. I think CMR knew that it would get him out of his contract and away from the lunatic fringe of
UGA fans.

If CMR did indeed throw a college football game while under contract, to the tune of $4 mil a year, then the only lunatic fringe would be the ones who were not calling for his firing….just sayin. I don’t believe he did at all, just feel like he had zero answers when things went bad, something that had a recurring feel since ’09.

If he were doing that, why would he have gone out to Lake Stevens, Washington a couple of weeks later to have breakfast with Jacob Eason? The conspiracy theory around this is laughable.

After he took the job in Coral Gables … So are you saying Richt went out to Washington in Georgia gear to have breakfast with Jacob to tell him he was going to Miami? That’s a stretch. He even said in his press conference in Athens that Jacob should listen to whomever the coach was going to be before deciding to go elsewhere.
Kirby convinced Riley Ridley and Jake Fromm to switch their commitments after he took the Georgia job. Jake was an Alabama commit that Kirby had responsibility for recruiting. I don’t know if Ridley was committed but have to assume he was seriously considering Alabama. I doubt Kirby went and visited with Jake while he was still employed by the University of Alabama to tell him he was going to Georgia.

I still feel throwing Faton out there with that Schotty (schitty?) game plan was Richt dropping a match in the hay barn. Only excuse that makes sense to me. He was tired, we were tired. Best resolution for all parties involved. Actually, it’s close to the feeling when I stopped believing in that famous Disney-created emotion; “True Love”.

Richt wanted to get back into the movies, he was laying the groundwork for the sequel to Facing the Giants. He didn’t get the Hollywood ending he was hoping for and Part II was thrown in the crapper.

If we can take him at his word, which I think we can, he consistently stated that all 3 qb’s were essentially even in all the practices. They went with lambert because he was more experienced than Brice. Brice punted, which left Bauta for backup. When lambert was showing signs of regression after the tn game I believe CMR truly thought Bauta would be a spark to regain some team swagger.

I don’t know. There is a guy that comments here a lot that says the game plan was catered to him, we just couldn’t tell because none of it worked. He said that Bauta had the plays but didn’t execute.

As bad as the decision to start Faton and the ensuing gameplan were, I still believe that halftime interview was the point of no return for McGarity and the boosters. He looked and sounded like he had not idea what was going on with his own program. It was the worst look during his entire time in Athens.

Like several of us, I was there. I really think that Lambert and our starting punter were both suspended for that game. They were friends (our QB and punter). I was sitting close to our sideline thanks to some friends’ awesome tickets. Both looked upset and dejected throughout the game but both acted as if they knew they weren’t going in. Remember last year Coach Richt backed off the transparency for suspensions policies and other things.
While we were at the game I told other people in the group I was with that I thought both were suspended. The sullen looks on their faces (we were that close) and their actions really made it seem that way.
Also, after the game the next week. I had a senior player in a class I taught. He made it clear that there was a reason that Bauta played and Ramsey punted. He also made it clear that everyone on the team understood why it was that way, even after the game went to pieces and our starters didn’t play. I didn’t press and he didn’t say any further, but my suspension theory really makes the most sense in my opinion.
Oh well, either way I think we will have a good team this year and expect better in the near future.

The only reason I don’t buy this 100% as the only thing that makes sense is that I haven’t heard it leak from any of the players.
Especially after Richt was canned, I don’t know what the incentive to keep it quiet would be.
One thing is for sure: 2015 was a shit storm, largely I believe because Pruitt try a mutiny for Richt’s job. I’d love to know the whole story.
